Well I will start off by saying this experience has taught me a valuable lesson...this whole experience started a couple of months ago when I was still relatively new to making money online and I now keep track of EVERYTHING I do and which company it was via but anyway...

Sometime in June I completed a survey regarding taking part in a beauty study. Don't remember which survey site it was with and I am a member of quite a few. On the 17th June I got an email from a company called Clearvoice Research saying I had qualified to take part and that the online beauty study would take place the following day, that I would get paid £35 within 3-5 days for doing a 1 hour online chat and provided a link. Great, I thought. The email has a contact name, address etc so I thought that was fine.

I logged in and did the webchat. I remember while doing it I asked the person how I would be paid, they said they were not sure they were just conducting the research on behalf of their client, fair enough I thought.

On 16th July I still had not received any payment and had received no reply to emails sent to the original person that had sent me the invite, so I contacted Clearvoice Research via the contact form on their website. Since then I have been in contact with someone, who in fairness does respond to my emails, but I am now getting really frustrated. The person is basically claiming that they don't know who the panel is that the research was carried out for. I don't understand how this can be the case as presumably they are getting paid for carrying out the research and who have they provided the chat information to then?!

The guy responds to my emails politely and promptly enough, but then says he will keep in touch but I never hear from him again until I re-initiate contact. I have sent another email this morning but am now starting to doubt if I will ever see this payment. I realise I should have known who the original survey site was, but as I had the contact details on the email sent re the webchat I thought that would be sufficient - lesson learned.

I guess my question is, is there anything else I can do about this, anywhere else I can turn to get this payment? If it were a small amount I would have moved on by now, but £35 is quite significant to me, plus there is the principle of it all. Clearvoice don't seem to be on social media (Facebook and Twitter links on their site are broken - good sign!).

Any advice appreciated.

I did this survey too and I never got paid. I even tried contacting the brand direct but the email address kept bouncing back.

The annoying thing is someone else did this here and they actually got their money - so clearly a case of picking and choosing who got paid or something!

Sorry I can't offer more help !

Thank you for replying. Did you do the actual web chat too [member=920]katykicker[/member] , or just the initial survey? Do you remember which survey panel you did it through?

Hi [member=1619]SarahLu[/member] yes I do the web chat and no I can't remember. I have a feeling it was Gifthulk, but I don't know 100%.

Also, Clearvoice claim they are doing this on behalf of a company called ROI Rocket. Who also don't bother to get you the payment. I've had numerous messages and frankly I've given up now. I actually did the study on the 1st of June and still haven't been paid. I made a post here about the company too - sods.

Its so annoying isnt it? If it was just a short survey I could let it go, but £35 for what took me over an hour, I am really peed off about it all. Would you mind telling me who did get paid so I can contact them and see which panel they used? Im not a menber of gifthulk so it cant have been that for me.

I believe it was [member=1762]Duffy[/member] and this is the post: http://www.themoneyshed.co.uk/index.php?topic=3471.msg37186#msg37186

I also told them I would resort to legal action but it meant nothing to them and I still didn't get my money. Fuckers.

Ah I've just found the thread and read it. I'm even more angry now. Glad in a way its not just me, but its completely unacceptable that so many people are not getting paid for their time. I have also been dealing with the same useless individual by email along with a guy called Julian. Part of me says I should just give up but the another part of me won't let it go until I get what I'm owed! Fuming!!

It sounds like Clearvoice are one to be avoided as they are not paying people or just deciding who they will or won't pay.
Terrible.

Do either of the companies have a social media presence? I'm sure we could apply some pressure. I'm happy to write a blog post on avoiding them if you're happy to name and shame publicly. I'm also writing a post about spotting scams, so I could mention them in passing too.

Clearvoice have a link to Twitter and Facebook on their site, but both links do not work! I have not checked ROI Rocket. I am in conversation with Clearvoice by email as we speak. The guy I'm speaking to copied in someone he claims is the project manager for ROI Rocket in his latest response so I'm going to persevere a little bit longer, but if I don't get any joy soon then I will be quite happy to shout it from the rooftops. Will keep you posted.

Just received this response:

"I will give you a short rundown of how the project in question is run and why it’s been such a long communication process.

ClearVoice paid ROI Rocket’s client to handle payment. That client is supposed to be responsible for the timing of the payment and the quantity.

The error in communication comes from the lack of response from that client. If we at ClearVoice had not already paid for each of the members to get paid, we would’ve gladly paid you as well as them immediately after confirming that you did indeed complete the study. We have already paid for all of the members to be paid (this was done weeks ago according to the information given to me) so it makes no sense to pay these members directly as that will result in an eventual double payment and a loss of funds on our end. You will definitely receive your payment, no questions asked. The only question is the time when you receive it.

Back to how the project works, I represent ClearVoice in the communication line (ClearVoice was solely responsible for programming the actual survey that the members had participated in to qualify for the study), ClearVoice hired on ROI Rocket to send out to more members and ROI connected with more companies that had members who qualified. The number of companies that ROI reached out to is undisclosed to me as well as unreachable by me. Those are ROIs clients and only they are in communication with said clients.
I must reach out to the project manager at ROI Rocket in the event that an unpaid member has contacted me again. She in turn reaches out to the individual client that the member came through, and here is where the difficulty climaxes. These clients are places like ours that manage multiple different panels. They have been paid to send out correct payments to those individuals on separate panels (each person could potentially be from a different panel) and they are not communicating where each member is from so we are unsure of how they are sending payment.

I will confirm with you no later than tomorrow that a reminder has at least been sent out to attempt to find out how, when, and where the payment will be made by the client."

There may be some hope for us yet [member=920]katykicker[/member] :-\

In the guy's defence, he does respond to my emails and I think he is trying to help. But an email to this effect sooner would have been more helpful than being blanked, as other people's messages seem to have been.

Watch this space...

Hi [member=1619]SarahLu[/member] I replied to your message.

I forgot to add that she said she was holding off payment on some until all were completed, but I don't know how true that is. I was paid to Clixsense Research, which I didn't know I had registered with!! But after an email from me getting a bit ahem, formal, she said the money was in my account.

Stressful! Good luck though, let me know how it goes.

Hallelujah I've finally got my payment!! Been passed from pillar to post but got there in the end. Apparently my payment had been paid into a panel called Yoursurvey (never heard of them and certainly wasn't a member!). They didnt offer paypal as a payment method, but they were able to credit me by Paypal when I sent them my email address. Had to pay fees to get the Payment so ended up with £33.57 instead of £35, but I'm just glad the whole sorry experience is over now!

Keep persevering [member=920]katykicker[/member] and I'm sure you'll get yours too
