Morning all, I am trying to review the household finances and was looking at alternatives to sky.
Does anybody know anything about Now TV asI can't understand how it works. Do you still need a satellite dish, and do you need an aerial? In which case would my old aerial work as I never got a new ?digital one as we had virign through a cable when the switchover happened. If I needed a new aerial it probably wouldn't be worth it. Do you have to pay per month or is it to do with how much you use. Also, can you still watch box sets? I think you must need to watch freeview as well as the channels through Now TV.
I have read things about it but can't understand it so was hoping someone might know.
Thanks in anticipation.

We did a month of Now TV and got rid, the quality is terrible - we also went back for 2 weeks for Game of Thrones and it was terrible (but I think that's more to do with us being quality snobs).

What about Amazon Prime and Netflix? Prime is £7.99 a month or £79 for the year and you get a butt-load of TV, movies as well as Prime delivery and music. Netflix is the same (for 2 screens) and has so much to watch. We have both of these and no TV licence because we don't ever watch live TV - saves us a fortune each month ;)

We loved NOWTV, had it in the old place. When we moved we now have no outside ariel due to terrible signal in the area. We have Freesat now, and an Amazon Firestick, ... argh [member=1]Jon[/member], I thought we needed an outside ariel (as well as net connection) to get NowTV? I've missed out on the last series of Stella ;D

Nope, it just connected to your home internet and gets everything that way!

I won a NOWTV Box and Movie pass - dont really rate it. Its ok, watched a few things, but on the whole Im gonna cancel it, dont think its worth 9.99 out of my hard earnerd pennies.
On the other hand we parasite off our old lodgers Netflix account (he doesnt mind) and it is so much better, maybe not as many newer films, but sooooo much to choose from!

I get NOW TV through a Roku box. I like the fact its a monthly pass (tip, if you go to cancel your monthly subscription they offer it to you half price for 4 months). I catch up on all the box sets and series I like. It's good value I think. I never watch live tv so I don't need a licence and the cost of Netflix, half price Amazon Prime and Now TV adds up to less than the licence.

What I do is look out for offers - you can pick up the passes on offer in Argos, Ebay and Amazon, and use them when I fancy catching up. I also get the movie pass when on offer and treat us to Sky movies for half price during Nov/Dec.

It's all about the bargains ;)

Aye just like [member=3496]jackieblack[/member] I use the offers

I use NowTV on our Apple TV and just buy the 4 months of movies for £19 type deals. I throw the box away and just use the voucher each time..

I have Now TV and . We used to have Sky, but it wasn't becoming good value for the amount we were watching.

We are both big cricket fans, and I like football too. My better half hates football, however, so I just tend to watch it when my team are playing. I therefore buy either a sports day pass or week pass (often from ebay) for when I want to watch the football, and we switch to the monthly pass from May-September, when the cricket is on. It saves us quite a bit.
