Traditional workplace hours of 9am to 5pm are now only the norm for a minority of workers, research suggests.

Just 6% of people in the UK now work such hours, a YouGov survey found.

Almost half of people worked flexibly with arrangements such as job sharing or compressed hours, allowing them to juggle other commitments, it found.

What hours did you (or do you) do at work?

I’ve not done 9-5 since working in the public sector and have done everything from flexible working or compressed hours to dropping hours entirely like I’ve done now where I just work 8-4pm or 7:30-3:30pm but truth be told it’s enitrley up to me as long as I fit my hours in each week

I remember my parents as teachers both working silly hours and yet post people from the outside through they only worked 9-3pm!!

Do you think the days of work 9-5 have really finished?

I also work in the public sector and use (abuse?) the flexi system. I couldn't go back to working 9-5, I either come in early and avoid rush hour traffic, I can sleep in later if I want to, leave early if I've got something to do, work long days to build up time and get days off.. Its so much more flexible I don't understand why other places don't adapt the same policy. Happy staff are more productive. I am surprised that the figure is so low but happy there is more flexibility out there.
