I've just come off a Skype call about positions currently available with this company. They are looking to fill 100 places (currently 70 left to fill) and the work is on a self-employed basis (so pay your own NI and Tax) expected to last 18 months to 2 years, depending on how fast the surveys are conducted.

What is the job?
Telephone Market Researcher: Contacting customers on behalf of a client to conduct a survey. You have a set script that you read, click the responses given.

What are the hours
Flexible!! Currently 10am-4pm Monday to Friday (perfect I know) They will look at extending the hours once there are more people on the dialer. You are free to work when you like within the dialer hours.

What is the rate of pay?
£6.31 per hour, paid monthly on/around 14th month (for the previous month). There is a bonus scheme after 8 weeks, should you meet requirements. No confirmation from the client as to what this is just yet.

Is there a trial period?
Yes, your first 10 hours will be trial. If you leave or are let go then you will not be paid for these hours.

Training?
Mostly on the job, you learn as you go.

How long do surveys take?
The average is 5.5 minutes, obviously new starters may take a little longer but it also depends on who you are calling (like someone who is very chatty).

What do I need?
PC/Laptop, headset (doesn't have to be fancy), steady internet connected via cable. Some call centre experience is essential.

How do I apply?
Email your CV to info@openoutsourcing.org.uk

What happens next?
If successful you'll be invited to a Skype info session (so you'll need it installed) where you will be told mostly what I have told you but you will get the chance to ask questions and be given a quick demo of their system. Then you'll be invited to a test call with someone in the office before an offer of a position.

I am hoping to get my call in by the end of the week, beginning of next (waiting for Eban to be back at school) with the hope to be on the dialer this time next week (should I be successful).

I have also informed the company about this site and post, inviting them to join so hopefully they will.

It really seems to be, even though the current campaign is only 18 months to 2 years they keep getting work through and have some people on the dialer that has worked for them twice as long. So if people click with the job could lead to more work after this campaign has finished.

Plus, you get to speak to people...that is a plus in my book, even if it is only to ask them questions it is adult conversation for a few minutes ;D

Have you done any work over the phones? The original advert says "some" (I should change that). I think they are looking for people who feel comfortable over the phone and know how a dialer works which is almost the same as what 63336 uses (work being assigned). You could always drop them an email, they are really friendly ;D

Queen81 - You used to do Anne Summers so I guess you are comfortable talking to people you don't know. All you need is a bit of spin on that plus the usual, quick learner, hard worker blag.
If you don't apply then you stand no chance of getting it.

Chammy - does this mean you are in and start next week?

I have my test call on Friday, I requested for a time when the child wasn't home as he played up today even after being bribed with popcorn (my mic was on mute most of the call). I've played around on their test system a little and it seems lovely and simple.

Hmm, sounds good.

I will apply. I don't have a microphone though, will need to go and get one if I get an interview.

I'm just altering my cv actually - I do have "some" experience of cold calling.

Did you just send a copy of your CV via email and nothing else?
