A guide to What Users Do.

I came across this site and it has the potential to make me a nice little bit of extra cash. It is really simple to use and each task takes roughly 10 – 20 minutes.
So, what is it?
You get paid to review websites. The systems records your screen and records audio as you talk out loud what you think while using the site to be tested. It helps shape development for future changes and gets feedback on “customer” interactions.

To get started, all you need is –
1. A pc or laptop with an internet connection
2. An up-to-date browser version
3. A microphone – either built in or external. I prefer external like THIS ONE
You will also need a PayPal account. I have set up a dedicated email address as well rather than getting it all to my personal address.

To sign up go to THIS LINK– It will take you right to the application page of the website. Fill in your personal details and verify the email they send. The page will look like this -

You then have to complete a short practice test. In my case I was asked to find out weather information in my city for a few days away and change the temperature reading. Pretty straight forward.
The thing to remember is TALK SLOWLY and STEADILY! I am a Glaswegian and we get very, very fast – it also doesn’t help I have a very strong accent!

The site then asks you to input the info in a box and submit the recording. You honestly click 2 buttons and the site takes care of the rest.
I heard back within 24 hours that I was accepted and have 6 tests through to me already.
The best part – They pay £8 a time – no pennies here or dollars there. Straight up, every test gets you £8!
So go and have a look, were all online any way right??

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

My inability to get a mic to work on my MAC is driving me nuts. I have tried in-built mic and USB headset but to no avail. I know that the headset is working so there must be some sort of conflict with the website.

Might try PC when I get a chance.

Edit: Issue resolved - Works using Firefox, but not Safari despite the fact that I am running a version of Safari that they say is compatible. Looks like I can use headset or in-built mic with Firefox browser.

Anyway, just completed the test - looks easy enough. Just a little strange to be talking to a computer screen about the weather, but perhaps good practice for my intended YouTube videos.

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

So my second task pops up since being accepted. Asks if I or my partner have bought clothes from any of the following shops in the last 6 months (lists 4 shops) of which we haven't but it doesn't give an option to say "no" so I selected the one we would be most likely to shop at and I didn't qualify  Knew I should of hit the shop that the test was about but I wasn't sure if that would disqualify me too ???

So far two tests and both I haven't qualified for :'(

I have had four pop up since I joined last Friday. Three last Friday evening - while I was at work, that had gone when I checked my mail Saturday morning. DOH!!
Then one today that I didn't bank with the right bank for. DOUBLE DOH!!

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

I have just had another go at the "Test".
I think that I managed to find tomorrow's weather this time instead of today's weather ::)

It's a little strange talking to yourself about the weather, but slightly less awkward than snooping around your local supermarket taking photos. I would make a terrible spy!

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

I finally passed the test and have just completed my first paid test (£8) ;D

I don't know if their tests are available to everyone at the same time, but if you are a member it might be worth checking.

It was a very easy task and took 20 minutes to earn £8 - can't believe they pay people for chatting about a website experience!

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

Chammy I have just done one that was available at 7.25am.
I think different tests are coming through for different people.
My kids are a bit miffed as I told them to keep quiet, and wait to be fed as I have money to earn.

I am not sure how the payment system works, I think the review gets rated but I am not sure what happens if they do not think you are good enough.

I am not sure if me mumbling about how I can't find the right bit of the site to click on is enough. But I guess if they want to hear what real people think then maybe it will.

I printed off the list of requirements so that I cd tick them off as I completed each part. Otherwise, I wd miss stuff out. I think you've just got to BS quite a lot but not just say nice things. Presumably they want the bad stuff highlighted too.

I printed them out too, but it was just me repeating myself lots as the questions were very similar. Then my comments at the end I just repeated myself again.

Rather than printing them out you can just navigate between tabs for each question. You don't get penalised for moving between WUD and the site you are reviewing!

Thanks for that.
I think it depends what the tasks are.
If there are a few specific questions that might work for me, but last night there were about 12 areas to comment on and I needed to manually check them off a list since they were a bit scattergun.

Re: A guide to What Users Do.

Having trouble with getting Java enabled. Java not enabled in Firefox yet says it is unstable so the plugin is no longer active.Tried in Internet Explorer and then Norton says 'this is unsafe' and promptly removes it.
This is what I have been trying with no luck:
https://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Unless there is a better one I can use that I don't know of?
You need it for 'what users do' so have been trying to get it sorted.
Anyone have any ideas?
