Well to be fair, PA didn't really explain that part of it at all, and it's the first time I've had the freebet available at the same time as the qualifier.

In that case I definitely did lay too much, so my next question is...how can I fix it?

Looks like they have already laid it off @homie, so are looking for calculations for it.

I'll leave that to people who don't get easily confused with the figures, like me, ha ha!

@MintySky , might be best posting what amounts and odds you have actually placed a bet on and what amounts and odds you have laid the bet off, so people can try and work it out for you :)

Sure thing :)

I've got £100 at 1.95 and laid £93.75 at 2.1.

I'm still learning when it comes to matched betting.

I make it that you need to back for on the exchange for about £24, assuming 2% commission and the odds are still the same

Don't be embarrassed @MintySky :), I'm not a complete beginner but have only done most of the 'easy' offers. I am just about to dip my feet back into it again.

Thanks for the above information. I think you will also need to confirm what 'setting' you used on the calculator e.g. was it for a 'normal/qualifier' bet?

some lessons learnt for you here, @MintySky

Try for a better match that 1.95/2.1 It sounds really close, but the lower the odds, the closer the match needs to be.

Don't use free bets at the same time as normal bets.

When you do use a free bet, go for higher odds. 1,95/2.1 won't generate very much profit. Aim for odds in the region of 4 to 7. But don't go to high, bookies dont like giving away big wins from free bets.

Don't worry about it though, its all part of the learning curve.

That lay means you are using an exchange @ 2%. You should have laid £69.72 so you are £24.03 out. Do a oddsmatcher search for the match you bet on and see if there is a bookie with an account you have that has better odds than BetBright and also check the current back price at the exchanges you have. If any of them have odds of 2.1 or over then that would be useful, otherwise you are looking for the highest odds you can get (remember that if you back at the exchange you will need to take account of the commission). Use the calculator and work out what the back bet needs to be to give you that lay stake of £24.03 @ 2.1.

Using the same figures as you have used then you would need to place another back bet of £25.63 @ 1.95 to cover the lay if you can't get any better back odds. You could do it as a back bet of £25 so it doesn't look out of place and this will mean you make a small additional loss if it wins in the bookie but a slightly better return if it wins into the exchange

Ahh good point. Yes, it was for a normal/qualifier bet. It was on the Betfair exchange, but if I remember right they're doing 2% on premiership matches atm.

I normally go for higher odds on free bets, tbh. The reason I didn't this time was because PA made a point of these guys being really gub happy, and not using high odds.

Thank you so much for doing the maths for me! I managed to find one with better odds, and still had some money in it to boot. :)

I know it is the beginning of the month when variance is usually better, but those slots hate me and I've never come out ahead in any Betfair promotion using them so I am going to avoid - however I know you will be all over it and hit the top floor - good luck with the 6 mins of free spins

Yup, pretty much this. Other slots I might have had a crack but I tend to have an awful time on those Jackpot ones.

and I'm done

took to it wagering £150 or 2 mins of free spins and I've finished a grand total of £4 up so variance isn't in my favour at all lol

Bit confused and I haven’t even had a drink....
Just got a flash odds boost from William Hill for spurs to score in each half (v Arsenal on sat) of 6.95. Lay odds on BF are 3.35. £20 stake therefore giving profit of £20.91 with £98.08 liability. Have I done this right?? I’ve placed my bet with bookies and clicked the lay box under the “yes spurs will score in each half” bit on exchange. Am I going mad??

I have been avoiding those ones because you have to make sure you lay correct market , have you got the link of where you did the lay ?

There’s the screen shot. Lay to “yes” they’ll score in both halves (ie no they won’t, I think) is at 3.4. I’m trying to apply the example to a straightforward horse race. I’d back it to win then lay it not to. Wish I’d not bothered!!!!

I really don’t know! It flashed up late last night on the odds boost forum on PA. There was talk of dutching but that confuses me even more! Oh well, thanks for taking a look @Cas i’ll soon know if I’m £90 down!!
