Watching that interview with the guy from the jockey club on itv and it’s just ridiculous having no crowds at racing, it’s not even like we are talking about the same layout as a football stadium so I don’t get where they think the bottlenecks will be is they let a few thousand people go.

I honestly think in 2021 we will lose the the likes of Yarmouth, Beverley, Newcastle, pontefract etc unless they start letting crowds into those race courses as they just don’t this the war chests like they do at Newmarket, York, ascot etc
I think the Chelts meeting just before lockdown was seen as being a source of quite a few infections, so our (paranoid) government is going to be jittery about horse racing (even though it has the ability to be one of the safest environments). Unfortunately (as it has been forever and forever) a small (but sizable) set of morons who don't think the rules apply to them are screwing it up for everyone else.

Totally agree

I saw ALL the sass online when the crowds were returning at the St Ledger for one day. People would put up pics of the crowds at chelts and be all OH, IT'S OK FOR RACING CROWDS TO COME BACK IS IT?!?!!

They totally don't get racing or how racecourses are laid out and how spacious they are!

First of all I agree about the morons...but you you could easily fit a few thousand football fans spaciously in every Premier League football ground in the country.

The same goes for top level cricket, rugby, golf etc.

Is it worth opening up that debate right now though?

This https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/local-news/shocking-scenes-snowdon-massive-queues-19005683 is just an example of why the authorities are still imposing lockdowns. It was like this the weekend before they announced the UK wide lockdown. People are annoyed at the restrictions and then they go and do something like this!!!! NUTS!!!!

There would be room for the fans to spread out during the game, BUT they would crowd together when going to the toilets and entering and exiting the ground. I assume there would not be food or drink sold. Even of it was just a few thousand they would have to get there meaning a lot more on public transport and possibly local shops and bars.

Agreed @Karonher, I was in no way suggesting football fans should be let back into games (quite the opposite).

I was trying to point out that most top level sport is similar and that there is a much bigger picture to consider right now.

Thinking to get back to MB but I had some accounts in some bookies in the past - on a different address.
Can i now join them again as a new customer as I live somewhere else for about 5years now?

The official answer is no. This is against the T&Cs of the bookies and is not allowed. On the other hand if you are doing MB then you are already breaking those T&Cs.

So as a person who has moved house 3 times in the last 5 years and is on their third account with 6 bookies and second account with another 8 then my unofficial answer is the opposite. Your Passport and Driving Licence do have a unique identifier so if you were to use the same ID then they might pick it up (or if you used the same bank account details - setting up a separate bank account at your new address would get by this - note that if you went that route then for the first 6 months or so you would probably be asked for additional address verification).

There are some bookies (such as WH and Betfred) which are a little lax when it comes to verifying customers and may not need ID at all (but that is just a lottery really)

Thank you!! @jkg-jkg that's helpful!
To be fair , I still had bunch of new customer offers when I stoppped MBing - and really should go and see what is out there for a month or so at least to decide if i can do it.

I know @Jon is able to continue to do horses, but I do not have a single account that I have (or do) horses on that is not blocked or restricted on in some way (except Skybet) so these days I would try and avoid them if poss. There are not as many offers out there as there used to be but with B365 you have 2UP and fairly regular £50 in-play free bet if you just stick to non-horse bets, and there are some nice free bets on PP for the football too. So be very careful how you bet in regards to horses.

Racing might be a bit of a shambles today with all the heavy rain around. Ascot has been abandoned completely.

Wonder what's going on here.

The French racing authorities have a much lower threshold than the UK authorities, and the reason for the higher UK threshold is there is too much risk of contamination (and of picking up cocaine from things like bank notes). He had his own test done (from his hair) which was negative (and is a much better guide to prolonged use). I dislike urine based tests as it is so easy for someone to spike someones drink (or food), and as the hair test was negative it would seem very likely. Let us see how the B sample test goes.
