This is a big reason why I'm not a massive fan... the trainers etc know the risk but perhaps the horses don't!Sadly this is part of jump racing, all the trainers, owners, jockey etc know this when they get into the sport.
I would say flat racing is far safer but I still remember at york one horse I bet on keeled over when it was in the trap waiting for the off!
They did that for the Grand National. I didn't mean to be callous when he fell earlier; it just seems to me the amount of shits the racing community gives about a horse death is directly correlated to how much money it was making people...
I'm sure they could reduce the height of the jumps and reduce injuries/deaths but I'm sure racing purist could tell me why that's a terrible idea and would ruin racing or whatever...
