Sorry - another stupid question coming up. I have just been reading and watching the video for E/w bets and at one stage he talks about the QL being £2 and the profit if the horse finishes in the extra place. Is that the only time it will pay out - winning or in the extra place. What happens if it finishes 2,3 or 4th? thanks

Yes. Assuming it is paying 5 places for a normal 4 place race and you do the standard lays on the win and place markets as directed by the calculator then:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th = Win at the bookie, lose at the exchange = QL
5th = Win at bookie, Win at the exchange = Profit
6th, 7th 8th etc = Lose at bookie, win at exchange = QL

If you lay in the Top 4 Places market on Smarkets or Places (4) market on Matchbook you will win extra profit only if your horse finishes 5th - this is in addition to the profit you make from the £125 cash refund minus the Qualifying Losses from the Back/Lay bets placed.

Only if the odds go in your favour, but it takes a certain type of race. Essentially you are arbing the each way market. Its a niche area that some people have been able to be lucky with and exploit but i've never got it to work. Profiting from it seems something of a dark art.

Me too!! I was restricted for boosts a while back but could still get the scratch of the day free bets etc. And I forgot to use last weeks free £5. It’s not like I’m bleeding them dry!!!
Yes, I don't always use the free bets either. I never withdraw any money, I do real betting, don't always take the boosts/offers and every now and again lose some money in their casino. So annoying... fingers crossed they get over it soon..
I read a paper article the other day where people were upset they had been bet restricted. They weren't match betting at all and just really enjoyed betting as a hobby. Sometimes they were up and sometimes down, but they still got gubbed and severely bet restricted if the betting company thought they had paid them out too much.
Actually made me feel a bit better. Also made me think that if you just happened to be lucky a few times, then eventually you could end up in a situation where no one would allow you to bet at all which seems ridiculous. I know the betting company is a business that needs to make profits, but it does feel like they are trying to target people who don't know any better or people with a gambling problem and get rid of anyone else. Makes me feel a lot better for taking money off them, however long that lasts.

I think there is a lot of focus within the betting world on William Hill in particular at the moment due to poor recent financial results. If you do a Google search on Philip Bowcock & find an interview he has done with Sky you will see where they are looking to make their main future profits.

Hey all, just been placing my GN bets with 365 and noticed a post come up on PA about Bet 10 Get 10 with William Hill, logged into the WH account and on the promotions page that offer flashed up and dissapeared within seconds. Can anyone else see this offer?
