If you get an email offer stating they will refund a bet up to 10 pounds if it loses-do people lay the bet they make with their own ten pounds? Seems pointless to me as you could back something, potentiall win a bit of money and if you don’t,you get your stake back.am I thinking about this all wrong?

You need to use a calculator to work out the lay stake so that you can guarantee a profit from this offer. You would do this by doing what we call an underlay. If you don't use one of the MB services such as OM or PA then you could use the free Matched Betting calculator at Trickybet.

Make sure you set the Bet Type to Free Bet SNR if you decide to use this option.

I’m with PA I was just confused about the need to lay when potentially you could win more if it wins at the bookies and you haven’t laid, but I’m assuming the lay bet is so you will definitely make profit whether there is a win or loss, whereas with not placing a lay bet you only make profit if there is a win at the bookies but break even if there is a loss?i think I overthink it sometimes lol

Hopefully an increasingly marginalised minority. England dealt with a difficult situation well.

honestly thought this sort of crap died out in the 80s but it appears now.. so sad..

I have been going to live league games since the mid 70's and there is a great difference. There will always be the odd idiot that makes a comment but by and large there will be lots who shout them down. All last season I heard one comment and it was from a young lad on the coach to an away game and he was soon told to shut up.

It can be self policed under the right circumstances.

If you heard the comments ny the Bulgarian manager then you know there is still a LONG way still to go. "I didn't hear anything" was always a crap excuse, but is more unacceptable these days.

If the odds change between you checking them and placing the bet is it a massive problem for a qualifying bet? I laid 8.67 but based on the change in odds it should have been 8.89. Does this just mean that my qualifying loss will be a bit bigger or do I need to do something to fix this?

Hi @Autumn500 - you can fix these but depends on things. Give us your bet stake, bet odds and lay odds to see what the difference actually is.

@Knopfler thank you! (i do realise that pick is quite crap and the qualifying loss is high btw!)

Bet stake 10.00
Bet odds 4.00
Lay odds were 4.1 when i placed the bet but i have laid based on 4.2
Commission is 5%

At the moment, it is the same as slightly Underlaying your bet - so you would end up paying a few pence more in qualifying loss if the bet loses but a lower qualifying loss if the bet wins at the bookies

A £10 bet with bet odds of 4.0 and lay odds of 4.2 (with 5%) commission is showing as a Lay Stake of £9.64 (£30.85 liability) for me. With a Qualifying Loss of 85p

A £10 bet with bet odds of 4.0 and lay odds of 4.1(with 5%) commission is showing as a Lay Stake of £9.88 (£30.63 liability) for me. With a Qualifying Loss of 63p

Is this for a Normal bet @Autumn500 ?

how do you mean different lay stakes? (sorry if i'm being totally dense!) What are you getting?

i used to bonus lock in calculator on profit accumulator as the offer is for a 5 pound free bet if mine loses-i think that makes a difference?

Ah, sorry - your replies have only just shown up just now. I'm using the normal calc.

Will start from the beginning.
