Good luck getting any half-descent prices on those. Although it's worth backing/laying an exact match, then hope it's a non-runner.

How does that work? Aren't non runners voided at the exchange and your lay stake returned anyway?

My understanding is : Place your NRNB back bet with the bookie, then lay in the ante-post market on the exchange.
If horse becomes a NR, bookie voids and returns your stake, exchange lay bet wins.

The danger is you may never get good enough lay odds @ the exchange - there are virtually no lay odds on the Gold Cup on Smarkets at the moment, and you will find that when they appear they will be quite high until nearer the race.

So you could place the bookie bet and then wait until nearer the time to lay the bet. However, it can be the case that the odds on the horse will actually go up nearer the race (a better horse is moved into that race can do this, or a poor showing in a race prior to Chelts). So this can be a very risky strategy, especially as a horse may be declared in more than one race, and you may be tempted to lay a horse at poor odds assuming it will not run, and then get burnt if it does (especially as trainers are as sneaky as football managers when it comes to misdirection - and they will also change their choice depending on the ground conditions - this DEFINITELY happened last year)

@jkg-jkg, indeed. It's wise to avoid trading the markets - unless you have an edge to guess which way the prices will move.
I'd prefer to wait a while for these markets to shape.
Not surprised at the lack of lay action on Smarkets (even this early). Their lay odds are often a tick or two above Betfair due to the deluge of 0% matched betting layers.

How easy are accas to lay? Paddys are offering me the refund if one leg loses but up to £100 stake!

Surely i should be able to squeeze a few quid out of that.

Starting to be a bit off putting to a newcomer who doesn't realise the earning potential, and also for long time casual users with lots of gubbed accounts who might not be able to make the most of it.

Agreed, and the latter could probably still make similar profit but it would just need a (lot) more manual work!
