Hi I'm new to match betting and I've done my first £5 bet and then noticed on betfair it's unmatched? I didn't realise this until I had completed and then was doing my free bet and noticed that part of my lay was unmatched however, this changed a few moments later but the £5 still showed unmatched what does this mean and have I messed it up?

If it's unmatched it means there was no money in the market at the price you took. Usually the bet will be matched later on (unless you went for a much lower price).

If you look at the bet and it is still unmatched you will probably notice the odds have moved. You can cancel it and adjust for the new odds.

Yes it has now clearly panicked too soon! Will it always match and how do I avoid this?

I've had good and bad luck with unmatched bets - I once bet on a horse and sat watching the odds hoping they'd improve nearer the race - they didn't. I panic layed and it didn't match but luckily the horse won and I came away £150 better off but I could have been £25 down (which I have been on a few Saturday refund offers ::) ). I do dislike Saturday refund offers

thanks guys, apologies for my predictive text spelling of "look" above - embarrassing!!!!

Feeling slightly more confident now, will see what today's bets bring and go on to stage 2.

Feeling determined.... so pleased to have found this site.

we're only 3 months away now from the Cheltenham Festival, the most profitable week for anyone doing Matched Betting

From memory I made around £700 over the 4 day racing festival due to the sheer number of offers

i mention this now because if you never book on horses then now's the idea time to start building up your horsey betting profile so you don't look like you are just bonus hunting during the festival

I need to start doing this. Horse racing seems so difficult though as the odds jump about all over the shop. Got to be done though, things seem painfully slow for me at the minute. I'm officially unemployed in 15 days

I'm finding matched betting is quite easy using PA... I think I'm going to have to pay for premium soon though to get more offers!

so beginners luck, my first £5 bet ended up winning and I made £6.36 profit.... check me out and that's before my free bet! unfortunately, I can't do the Betfred offer as I already have an account so I will need to get the Premium PA to start finding offers and doing the workings out for me but i'm pretty chuffed for my first go out so want to share my mini fist pump victory after this mornings minor hiccup!!!

Are you sure you made £6.36 profit from your initial bet [member=5151]Emmatat78[/member] ?

Did you not lay it off on betfair?

Generally your loss on a qualifying bet should always be a few pence

[member=5151]Emmatat78[/member] it shouldn't luck, it should be guaranteed profit/lose based on following the calculations/guides.

Email fro Betstars this afternoon giving me a free £20 bet. I opened my account and its not there. Messaged CS and got an email to say it was sent in error and I wouldn't be getting it. How's that for customer service?
