Hello. I am dipping back into Prolific after a break for a few years. We have moved and have a lot of refurbing to do so all the extra pennies help.

I used to use Prolific a lot and have been logging back in again over recent weeks. It seems so hard to get into a study now. I have the auto fresh on but by the time I click on the study (within seconds of the computer pinging to notify me), the places are gone and its full. It never used to be like this. I remember logging in and having a list of studies waiting for me. Now I struggle to get any unless very lucky. Is this normal for everyone now or is there a trick I'm missing?

It is pretty competitive to grab studies. Make sure your demographics are updated.

I think Prolific has had another influx of new participants.

This is good in some ways, as the platform is getting ever more popular and that means more studies are being offered, but there is nearly always a period of adjustment when it happens. Studies fill up (much) more quickly, and the site tends to slow down at crucial moments.

Usually, a good portion of the new intake gets bored and leave after a while, and things go back to normal again. Fingers crossed!

Did anyone else get that test to do last night? I qualified for an 'official skills assessment' on understanding instructions. Apparently, if I passed it may lead to higher-paying jobs. I had to answer 15 multi-choice questions and it was timed.

I think I failed, not least because I timed-out on the last one and because I started to panic towards the end and that blinds me to questions a bit. I wish they'd share my score out of interest (and pass/fail) but it looks like they won't be doing that. I got paid for it though.

I know the last entry on this thread is from last year and a bit old but I am not Lauren Knox...

Only one I did last night was one for £3.80 on English language, but don't think that was timed but it was around 25 mins.

Yeah with regards to Prolific I think you do need Prolific notifier now. It is very competitive and within second a study will fill up unless it is targeted one or big one usually has less money attached. Really need these universities to get bigger budgets :p

I find that the extension is very hit and miss. I have Prolific opened in a tab all of the time and often see that there are studies there that I haven't had a notification. And often I get a notification when there are no studies. Between the two, I do OK though. I earned £20 yesterday :)

No I didn't, but I think I had loads of surveys that night but was busy, just kept hearing the notifier go off. I did have the question about how many hours I could work a week. I ticked 20 but not optimistic....would be nice though.

The notifier is OK but hit and miss I think. I also have to disable it for a while sometimes because it drags my PC.

I joined in 2018 and for the past year or so I've been on on a rolling AI thing (someone else on here is on it too I think). I've made over £200 this month, and it's only the 16th, so no complaints. If I've passed this thing it'll hopefully go higher.

Yes, I ticked 20+ too and thought it may have been a bit ambitious.

You're lucky to get on the AI project. I get the occasional £15 one or £7.50 one, but have only had a few. I enjoyed the photo one, it reminds me of Appen a bit but better paid.

Yes, they're the ones I get. The photo one - is that the 'which one do you prefer' one?

Prolific is really good now it’s got loads of studies available. It’s an easy £50 a month though I have missed a few high paying ones and ones where they have filled up before I could get to them. If I took them all then it would be nearer £100 a month.

I also noticed a pop-up yesterday to say that they were having problems with the new entrants' test and were fixing it, so there's no shortage of people joining by the looks...

I had a different AI one this morning, it reminded me of the work I used to do for Lionbridge. Though Prolific pay better. It wasn't as much fun as the images one, but I hope I get more as they are worth doing.
