Thanks, I've messaged them. I do a tax return every year but I don't think I earned £1 k on Prolific last year. Earned more this year though It seems to have gone quiet now, are the AI studies all finished?

I haven't had any AI studies in about a week. I saw on Reddit that there have been a small number of them appearing occasionally and quickly getting taken. Who knows if and when they'll restart.

Well that's a bummer! Got up this morning to a message saying that things have changed and that I now need to verify my account with photo ID. Guess what? I don't have any photo ID! So looks like I'm out of Prolific then! I've sent them an email, but I don't hold out much hope.

That's rubbish @Topaz I have been asked for ID too once I updated the website but I presume it will happen for everyone at some point. I think it's a bit odd. I wonder if they're trying to out all the scammers or something, you do see them when you're reviewing someone else's work and they haven't answered the tasks properly. Not that I have review tasks very often.

I now can't do anything, as it says I'm using a VPN, which I'm not, so I couldn't do the ID verification even if I wanted to!

Wasn't there some sort of free ID card you could get to vote with, but I suppose that wouldn't work if they say you have the VPN problem too. Frustrating.

There is a free voter ID card, but they don't accept it. The only option is to either have a passport, drivers licence or official national ID card, which the UK doesn't have - yet! There is a UK citizen card, costing £18, but that doesn't look like its accepted either.

I think it has to do with them having to verify who people are to report earnings, i had to do the same recently for ebay, new users have to verify with photo id's on prolific too

I just got the message to verify a few days ago. Luckily I have photo ID and I was able to verify ok but I feel for anyone who doesn't have ID. Life will get more difficult now the new age verification laws are here and seemingly required for websites that aren't even adult sites. I don't think that's Prolific's issue. I agree they're trying to weed out fake accounts and also comply with the government regulations for reporting earnings.

You should be able to adjust the resolution on your computer, I use a regular laptop and it was easy to change that in 'display settings' somewhere.
I've been doing them for a few weeks now and just got an automated warning about the quality of my work :/ As usual - no instructions, no feedback, just a warning that I might not be able to do them in the future. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I tried one, didn't like it, so didn't do anymore. I then blocked the researcher so that my feed doesn't get inundated with hundreds of the things! I can now see the studies that I enjoy doing. I now have projects on my dashboard in a separate section too. Haven't quite worked out the difference between them and the usual studies yet, but I've completed one already.

With the ID thing, I ended up getting a passport and have recouped my money in a couple of weeks

Yes, but I really don't like them, and can only do a couple a day. They go on for so long, I know it's only 15 minutes, but it feels much longer. And the pictures and videos you have to pick always look so weird.

At least they are better than. "Take 10 photos of the palms of your hands" or "Take photos of the side of your face" I always hide those ones but they keep coming back.

I am noticing a lot more from America recently. They never seem to pay so well once you work it out from dollars and take into account PayPal gives a crap exchange rate too.
