I had the same thing yesterday. Can't remember what it said, but was something to do with an answer that I gave didn't match the study criteria, as set out on the start page. I was then asked to return the study.

I have an update now & as far as I am concerned it has reached a satisfactory conclusion.

I marked the study as completed with no code as it said I had answered all the questions they had. The researcher has accepted & approved me for payment.

I guess the difference from yours is that I wasn't asked to return the study, which I would have fully understood under the circumstances.

Well this is QUITE the excuse!

Hello all.
You've recently either completed or attempted to complete a study run by us. For those that did not finish, the study was designed to evoke mild frustration by various methods - from spelling errors, buffering and repetition to apparent technical failures and the removal of a 'bonus'.
Firstly to all those who quit the study before we were able to take your data (and hence get you paid) - let me sincerely apologise. This may not particularly mitigate your frustration with us, but it's something I feel I absolutely must do.
Secondly to those whom I was forced to reject request for payments, I have asked Prolific to ensure that your ratings are not affected. Though i have no direct control over their processes, I very much hope that they will do this.
Our work here is part of an effort to find ways to more effectively manage 'tech frustration', and in this, all of you have played an important part. Thank you very much for that. I hope that this, in some small way, serves to reduce your understandable irritation.
Best wishes and kind regards

Very naughty! I had one the other day that said that I wasn't qualified as I had clicked an answer which showed that I hadn't read the brief page, which I had. It was probably that then. It isn't a very professional way of getting data, especially when you are wasting people's time by having them start a study and then telling them that they don't qualify and need to return it without paying for their time!

This was an odd one. I went out of my way to hunt down my microphone to jack into my PC, 'failed' to submit the test correctly so moved on. Then I was just doing the word association thing and my GP phoned me so I had to leave that and didn't answer half of them because the test had moved on. But I battled on and it was only when I fell over the finish line that I realised it was all set-up. My Norman Wisdom approach still got me paid for though...

Was this the 'how does your sentence end' study or a completely different one? I just tried to do it and got an 'your connection is not secure' firefox warning, so did not proceed any further, naturally.

Then a couple of minutes ago, Prolific said they were having some issues but refreshing it, and got back to the normal screen okay. Anyone else having any problems? thanks :)

I'm not sure. I did mine on the 19th and got £3.30 for it if that helps.

Thanks @Jute - sounds like it was a different one to the study I quoted above. Be really annoying for anyone that did the 'trick' study and did not get paid if it was for £3.30 then!

Prolific is by far my favourite panel. The studies are often genuinely interesting and they are very reliable. The only downside is how quickly they get filled up, and I've missed £10 worth of studies this week not getting there in time!

Yes, you have to be quick that's for sure. I'm still waiting for them to announce their apparent deal with Paypal re free withdrawals though, now that Circle Pay has gone.

Not sure if it's country specific but I never pay any fees now. When I first got a payment about a month ago there was a fee but in 3 withdrawals since there's been no fee for me.

Well that's interesting. Maybe it's in place now. I cashed out with the circle thing but haven't since. I'll try it in the next few days.

They are university/college studies, so the summer is usually a lot quieter (unless things have changed since I last did any surveys)

Well, because I'm sad I keep a small spreadsheet for it and last July and August were two of my best months (as was Easter this year). I think many PhD students do a lot of their research during the holidays. Either that or I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Oh I guess that makes sense. Hopefully they will be extra motivated and work through their summer :)
