Okay, did anyone get the £8 survey about graphs and data sets? Jesus that was hard. I'm pretty sure I got most wrong :D

No I would have loved that one! Doesn't matter if you get them all wrong I would guess as long as you make a proper attempt to complete the task.

I did one about a week ago. Was £3 for 30 mins. I completed it in 25 and they refused payment "as I failed an attention check" right at the end. It told me to check a box to say I disliked the survey. I thought it was a mistake so checked "like". I disputed it, and now not seen a study since. Stuck on £4.23!

I had a similar issue regarding a study which was to do with memory recollection. Now my memory isn't great, and in one section I recalled less than half the faces (it was a very long study) and so they rejected my work. I found it ridiculous that it was rejected given that it was a study all about memory, of which my rather bad one should have been a part of! The study author didn't respond to my protestation so I contatced prolific directly, and my fee was paid by the end of that day. I'd suggest you try contatcting them direcly if you haven't already.

I'm not so bothered about missing out on the payment from that study, though annoying. It's more the feeling I'm now locked out of further studies. Was seeing a few each day. Now nothing for 6 or so days.

Right, but if they overturn it then it will no longer be rejected on your account, and so if that is the reason you see less studies it should change that.

I contacted Prolific asking why I hadn't seen any studies on hold, and they avoided answering my question as to whether they had put my account on hold. I pushed them further then got this just now. Gubbed at Prolific! I am fuming at their suggestion that I am in any way untrustworthy. I answered 8 studies, and answered all questions honestly. I have never had another account with them, so have no idea what they're on about.

Hi William,

We carry out various types of automated checks on accounts to improve data quality. These include assessing responses to surveys and questions, checking the trustworthiness of ISPs, reports from researchers, as well as other factors.

I'm afraid you cannot participate in further studies on Prolific because your account has failed one or more of these checks. We are unable to disclose further information about these checks.

However, you will still be able to withdraw any remaining rewards earned from your account.

Best wishes,
Prolific Support Team

I understand why you'd be fuming. I have had a survey which was 'returned', I didn't get an explanation. Also I can't log into One Poll at the moment, which is vexing as I've got nearly £30!

There was a £15 study earlier. Naturally I was notified when there was 1 place remaining, which no amount of rushing will ever get you in :(

@Jon, abit off topic but when I tried to find this thread quickly to post it by doing 'prolific' in the search box I could not find it and there were LOADS of 'repeated' threads which took time to scroll through eg. November Moneymaking, Time to make some scary cash, worst survey sites etc.

Is there a way of just showing the original threads once when searching as I have noticed this happen before, or is that not possible? (does sound like a big job, I know?)

I eventually found it by going via Earning Money Online and scrolling through that - by which time over 200 of the survey invites had been snapped up

Tick “search titles only“ when you perform a search

of you could just click on “quick links“ on the side and then click on prolific

What a lovely response:

oh, charming! Some of them are more like memory checks than attention checks, I've been annoyed more than once at being rejected when I've been paying full attention but couldn't remember some tiny detail from a page 20 questions previously. Maybe it was something similar?

Possibly. I don't want to get too precious about it but I've never had a non-cordial response from any researcher like that before. Even when they've said a sub was rejected they've worded it in a respectful way. Perhaps she was having a bad day :)

I agree that allot are actually memory checks and not attention checks.
