Prolific has been a lot less well...prolific over the last couple of months. I've noticed surveys filling up much more quickly and I randomly stumbled across a link to their blog on the Prolific Twitter account.
They had a spike of 30,000 new participants in late July after going viral on TikTok, which explains a lot. It does appear to have caused them some problems with researchers though, as the new sign-ups are heavily skewed towards 20-something females, which means studies are getting massively weighed towards a single demographic.
For us as participants I guess it just means fewer opportunities. Hopefully some of the lull has been due to the summer holidays too.
