Fingers crossed for you, it's so annoying when that happens. I'm contesting one at the moment. The researcher has my completion code and says it could be a technical error therefore apologies but no payment! Prolific are usually very good though so I'm hoping they'll resolve it....I\ve never had one rejected so far and I've done 844 :)
I'm on 829 submissions and it is rare to have issues. It is a good platform and they usually resolve things in a satisfactory way. I hope you get yours sorted out too and get paid.

I got chopped after 2+ years for reasons I'm not sure. They don't tell you. I suspect it might be an IP thing but that's not in my control :/

I love Prolific, but this does concern me. It's poor that they don't give a definite reason for banning your account.

Their Trustpilot reviews are full of complaints from long-time users who suddenly find their accounts closed and whilst Prolific make the effort to reply to every one, it's just a copy & paste job which doesn't really address the issues raised. They do seem particularly inflexible on this point.

This looks like a copy and paste reply lol

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm afraid you won't be able to take part in further studies on Prolific because your account has failed one or more of our automated checks, as well as our manual review. Unfortunately, I can't give you any further information about the specifics of these checks and won't be able to reverse the decision.

You can still cash out any money in your account.

I must stress that, while we thank you for your interest in the platform, this decision is very much final. We're also unable to allow restricted participants to create new accounts, so please don't attempt this.

Thank you for understanding and I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Best,
Jeremy

I have earned over six hundred pounds from about 500 submissions and have only had a couple of problems. I would hate to lose itearned over £100
I would hate to lose mine as well I have earned over £1,200 so far and getting plenty of new ones everyday. I am being more careful now and cashing out as soon as I can since lots of people seem to be losing their account lately.

Yes it does look very much like a copy and paste reply!
That’s extremely harsh to just do that out of the blue!
It looks like they are doing the rounds of accounts of long-standing members and finding an excuse to get rid of them to make room for new memhers.

It looks like the same reply people are getting on trust pilot. Definitely a case of the computer says no. It is my favourite survey site.

Well i've not done a survey in over a year so I don't know why that would mean I am put on hold and can't be accepted ever again lol

That’s really odd to do that. They used to be so good at getting accounts sorted if there was a problem when they first started up. Just shows how sites can just change dramatically once they have become successful and maybe new people have taken over too.
It is as though that is just a standard response to anything where your account is on hold.
If it was because of inactivity most sites would just say so then they don’t usually ban you from signing up again either.
Something has gone wrong somewhere.

I think that's what people are finding so infuriating. The 'tough sh**' type of reply and no real reason. I know I'm going to be hopping if I get kicked off.

I seem to remember when this thread started that there was a Prolific rep in here commenting when we had problems.
i’ve been with Prolific more than six years and the extra cash is useful so I hope I don’t lose my account. I am a bit worried since I was away for 18 months and only started doing studies again in March.

They are still owned by the same people. A chap called Phelim used to post as Prolific on here (not since 2017 from the look of things) & he's the co-founder (they were Oxford Uni students at the time I think).

It's odd because in other respects they are still the model of how to run a survey site. They've just put the minimum earnings per hour up from £5 to £6 in the last few days. It's only on this one point they have become so poor. It seems to be something to do with data integrity (possibly relating to IP addresses or ISPs) but they are so vague about it that it seems almost as if they're hiding something.

Since they had that monumnental f up with streams of idiotic tiktok members signing up, they seem to have been on a cull. With many longstanding and reliable old-timers suddenly getting the chop. Pretty disgusting the way they have done it, especially since I and many others bigged them up endlessly.

Might be worth checking your 'about you' section and making sure you didn't claim to have heard of the Crispley-Buxley phenomenon (a known trick question). They automatically cull anyone who answers 'yes'. It's in the 'Other' section.

Yes, I hesitated when I first came across that one and quickly Googled it (then ticked 'no'). It's come up a couple of times for me.
