Re: Streetspotr, free smartphone app that pays you for doing simple, fun tasks

Hi everyone!

My name is Georgia and I work for Streetspotr, "the app that pays you". We haven't officially launched in the UK, but we have recently put out a handful of 'Pretzel Check' jobs in inner London as a test run for a client. In fact we haven't told anyone other than The Money Shed and a handful of Streetspotr UK social media followers that these jobs are available. I hope you feel special!

Our client is paying our first UK Streetspotrs incredibly well - 13 pounds for each store check!

The tricky bit is, the majority of these tasks are at small food stores so getting the necessary pics can be difficult. But I have done 2 tasks myself and managed! One approach is to visit the store during a peak time so as all sales staff are too busy to notice what you are doing.

Another approach is to be super friendly with the staff and explain that you are just picking up a bakery snack for a friend who is unsure of what he/ she wants exactly and therefore you are photographing all the bakery products to send to him / her. It may help to even pretend you are on the phone to them!

Good luck! We'd love to hear your feedback. Please just post on this thread.

Looking forward to our launch later this year with jobs UK wide.

Cheers,
Georgia

Hi Georgia

Thanks for taking the time to chat to us here. I know this app is quite big in other parts of Europe.

It's main competition here is the likes or Roamler and the uber popular Field Agent.

Roamler seem to offer a lot of regular tasks but paying a lot less than FA does for the same kind of work, will this be Spotr's approach as well?

Am waiting for some tasks to appear in Leeds, It's a big city, so lets do some trial ones up there ;)

Yep, of course we know all about Roamler and F.A!

You're right, we are huge in Germany (in fact we are Europe's largest mobile workforce) and now we plan to replicate our success in the UK. The payment we offer is set by our clients, naturally we always encourage them to pay our users more to ensure a better service.

Keep you posted as soon as we have Spots in Leeds :)

But firstly, we need to get these London Spots completed, so all you Londoners out there go get 'em!

Hi Georgia

I am in the midst of downloading the app but when it came to reading the terms and conditions they are all in German (prior to this everything else has been in English)- where can I read them in English please?

Many thanks

Hi Blackpepper1

When you registered and they asked you to accept the t and c, were they in English as mine are all in German?! Yet up until that point everything else was in English?

I think they were in English from what I remember. When I did the first task and read all the instructions it was in English as well.

It was on iOS on my iPhone Jon. I,ve just looked at the online website on my laptop and clicked the t and c there at the bottom of the page, it read 'English version coming soon'

Hi thanks, registering was all in English until the last bit where it asked me to accept t and c so I looked and that was all in German so still waiting for that bit before I can go ahead..

Yes, I'm certainly not much of a risk taker..

Shame though, being as I'm not a fan of sharing too much information or receiving too much information I will leave it until the English version comes along

I was really proud of myself too as I'd just downloaded my first app! Considering it was launched in Germany, a country known for their efficiency, I'm surprised they hadn't updated the t and c to English before signing people up.

Have just read the FAQ on the website and they are in English and cover a lot of things like data protection etc so might just read up on them instead..

Hi Darcey,

You're absolutely right, the T&C's are yet to be translated to English - sorry about that. We are working on that right now! Google translate does a good job just to get the gist of things - but I do realise this is not acceptable. The official translation should be up in 10 days.

Thanks for living life on the edge ;)

Cheers,
Georgia

Thanks Georgia

The FAQs cover a lot of important information about data sharing etc so I signed up after reading through them instead.

Just a quick question

I noticed a while ago you were offering the same Hungry House menu checks that Roamler offer in the UK but paying substantially less than they do. Was this just a trial price you were offering for proof of concept for them or if they come back as tasks in your August launch will you be paying the same rate as before?

Another quick question.

How do I find the SPOT-ID for a job. Please can you post some screenshots?

Wow. I had no idea apps like this existed, I'd never heard of this or Roamler before!

I've just downloaded this for Android from the Play store so fingers crossed it works :) Are these sort of apps not well known? I'm surprised if they pay money for taking pics of menus and stuff that more people aren't talking about it!

Have read on the green site a few people who have had problems being paid by this company so was reluctant to download it. Has anyone had anything from them ?
