Do they take taxes out or do you have to declare yourself as self-employed for these?

No they do not deduct tax - you work freelance and are personally responsible for registering with HMRC in the UK.

If I remember rightly it says somewhere in one of the agreements that they can ask for evidence that you are paying appropriate taxes in the country you are working in. I'm not sure how often they do this in reality though.

I'm wary of posting too much about the actual work because we sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), but what I will do is update this thread when I've got further along with it - just with some overall impressions of how things are going

We can't talk about ANY of that stuff in public, we signed an NDA

I sent you a PM with my Skype ID, add me and I can help you out

Re: Leapforce / Lionbridge

So on Saturday I qualified for the Leapforce qualification exam and when I sat down and read the email properly on Sunday evening, it turns out my exam started yesterday. Mental cramming last night for part 1. Read the entire document full of guidelines and guessing that I should attempt part 1 asap if I have another 2 parts to follow. It's a hell of a lot to take in. I'm not sure if I have done enough or not but literally spent 3/4 hour or so reading it over yesterday.

You get a week to do this for a reason

Spend a day or two learning the guidelines

I spent 1 day on part one
1 days on part 2
2 days on part 3

But as usual, I am at work in the daytime so you may have more time to do it than I did

Re: Leapforce / Lionbridge

I think the mistake was not referring to the guidelines during the exam on questions I wasn't 100% on.

Yep, slow is good advice.

Re: Leapforce / Lionbridge

Tomorrow I find out if I passed the qualification exam. Nervous!!! I'm really hoping it's good news. Can anyone remember what time in the day they received the email? I'm going to be watching all day. :-/

Well done Jenna!

I re-sat part one today, I've not heard if I passed it, but I didn't get the fail pop-up like last time and so I am guessing I can go on with part two.

deadline is Mon 1st Dec for part three, so I'm guessing I won't hear until then.

Yup, make sure to allow yourself plenty of time to understand them before you start the exam
