Re: uTest

I just put novice for everything too. I am not totally sure what will be required. I've started reading through some of the courses on their website which is helpful but it would be easier to start studying once I know when the sandbox starts and what it entails.

Re: uTest

Probably worth reading this: http://university.utest.com/invitations/#sandboxprogram

Any courses on Functional testing will be useful. That's literally just going through an app or website as if you are a normal user and checking that links function, images load, actions such as form submissions, sign up etc work.

You can easily practice before Sandbox by picking any site/app and checking the above.

Re: uTest

Hoping to get into this.

When you filled in your profile with your functionality expertise...... I'm assuming when it says something like Test Automation - Java, you just need to be able to test a app/site that uses Java rather than have any experience with the code itself? I've got most of them ticked as N/A but I doubt that's going to get me very far!

Re: uTest

Oh yes.... what tools do you recommend - or do you not really need them?

Re: uTest

I've never had to work with code so I don't think you need any knowledge of it.
I put Novice.

I just use Android Device Monitor to capture logs. There's a course on the best way to capture logs so I'd check that out as you'll need it for app crashes and some other bugs when they ask.

Re: uTest

Ok so my two bugs and test case in Sandbox were approved. Should I expect a more formal "You passed sandbox!" or do I just deduce it from my ranking on the page?

Re: uTest

Wow, thank you for all the info about uTest. I've just accepted the Sandbox test and am worried I've bitten off more than I can chew at this particular time- it looks quite daunting!

I think I have a lot of reading to do before I start!

I think I received an e-mail. You could always ask in the chat 'room' at the bottom of the uTest forum index. They may be able to help more.

People have asked in chat and not received any reply. I am ok to wait, things are moving a bit with Appen.

I saw that you should get an email 3-5 days after the Sandbox is 'locked'.

Had another two valuable bugs approved today, so I've now got a proven rating and am eligible for a %bonus on future bugs. :)

What bonus do you get for Proven?
I thought it was Bronze-Gold that got a bonus

Ah yes, you are correct. Bronze is the first bonus tier. Not to worry, I'm not too far from that now :)

Re: uTest

I started my sandbox yesterday, but have already noticed a bit of a prob. It stated windows 8- which my pc is- but I completed the test on my laptop which is windows 7

whoops.

I managed to get 2 bugs and had to mess for ages to get a flow diagram and a screen shot on the same file- was a bit of a mess!

Good stuff!

You might have to complete a certain number of cycles before you move up to Bronze so if you find yourself hovering just below the 75% rating for a while, that'll be why. It stops people powering straight through to Gold just because they have a few Exceptional bugs.

@Gavvy, does the scope specify Windows 8 only? Have you added both 7 and 8 to your profile?
