There's never much on the Projects Board. Most cycles are based on OS and location but occasionally there are additional requirements. These go on the Board.

You won't get a Proven rating until you've done a few more cycles with some bug approvals.

In my first month after completing Sandbox, I was invited to 7 projects. The second month, I took part in 30. It takes time to build a reputation as a valuable, reliable tester.

You will need patience, especially in the beginning. Without that, it'll be really frustrating when you're waiting up to a month for bugs to be approved/rejected! Most are approved within a week of the cycle closing but I have some that are at 30 days and counting.

Thanks Spike, that's really helpful. One question I do have that you may be able to help with: Now that I've passed the sandbox should I not be rated for functional testing, or is that after I've done some real projects?

I've got an iPhone 5c and 6 a Windows 7 desktop and an 8.1 laptop, so apart from Android I should be OK device-wise.

Regards,

CAD.

Re: uTest

That's a shame Muppetbaby but at least you know what to expect this time and if its the same website you could get a headstart.

The webinar was quite useful and nicely brief which was perfect after a loooong day yesterday. I passed the 101 Quiz this morning. Now to browse the forums and wait patiently for an invite :)

You'll be fine, I think. There should be plenty of work for iPhones, I get invited to loads of iOS and Android cycles anyway.

According to one course: if you do not have a badge, this simply means that you have not filed enough “activity” points
So, you might get it after one real project. It depends on how many bugs you submit, test cases, reviews etc. All affect activity

Okay, so it looks like that's all I'm going to make on uTest this month.

I still have one bug awaiting approval, but I've made $84.65 since I started on the 14th Feb. Not too bad I don't think, and the tests appear to be rolling in more quickly now.

:)

Re: uTest

My sandbox test has just been locked. I know it could take a while before I find out if I've passed but can anyone tell me how long it takes for bug reports to be marked?

Hi,

My guy did a few every day. Took about two weeks in total.

My bug reports were marked as they went along so I don't know if there is a rule. My test case was marked last week and I found out I'd passed on Monday this week. I was the 9th Feb class.

Mine locked this afternoon too. We must have been on the same one. Good luck!

Re: uTest

I've just signed up for this, and must admit I'm rather daunted by the sheer amount of information to take in. I have some short-term memory/concentration problems, and am also slightly overwhelmed at the amount of areas of experience they seem to want in which I appear to have nothing valuable to offer. Am I likely to crash and burn?

Re: uTest

I have had my 2 bugs approved as somewhat valuable - had 2 points deducted though for not following some points correctly. Am now waiting for my test case to be marked.

One guy submitted 5 bugs- all were declined !

i got exactly the same as you gavvy ! both approved as somewhat valuable but on one i got the title format wrong -1point and then the 'additional environmental information was either missing or wrong' -1 point.

what does it mean? are you allowed ANY -points ?
thx ss

Re: uTest

I have no idea. I was in the top 10 but as they mark more am slipping down. The test had yet to be marked either.

Iwouldn't worry too much i'm still in the top ten but i don't think it means much yet as ive realised i made the same two mistakes on both bugs so i think i'll be -4 :-\ stupid mistakes too as i had read what to write and then by the time i came to do it it had evaporated from my brain

Re: uTest

The best advice I could give here would be to go and look at the submissions of the high scorers and see how they have formatted theirs, what they have included in the additional info box etc. Its a good way to pick up tips, especially if you're a visual learner like me :)

Re: uTest

If you're getting marked down then you're just not following the instructions. Definitely check the bug reports of bronze-gold testers once you start working on paid projects though. I try to add a video for most of my bugs, I should do it for more though. Some bugs are intermittent and it's a real pain when you go to get a video and it's working again!
Always check the Overview for bug title and additional info requirements, before and after you submit a bug just in case you've missed something.

Hi,

I'm sure each sandbox is different, but in mine anything less than +4 would have put you outside the top 30%. I would imagine -4 is not going to make the cut, but I hope I'm wrong.

Good luck,

CAD.
