Re: uTest

thanks everyone for your replies, yes i found the overview yesterday by accident if i had seen that before i wouldn't have made any of the mistakes i made. But to be totally honest, i got the invite and just started it and winged it.
At the moment i have 2pts and in top 10 but i'm not sure if that will remain so, but there is a constant bug on my tester scorecard page which is quite funny really considering the site it is on

Re: uTest

The Overview should have been the first page to load but ah well.

I'm sure you know now but always check the Overview. In many tests some areas are out of scope so any bugs submitted will be rejected which wastes your time and also affects your rating. Most of the time you can't avoid it anyway because that's where the app files or URLs are listed as well as the pay rates.

Re: uTest

I'm slightly confused now - I joined yesterday and within a couple of hours already had a paid work invitation! Is this a mistake, do you think? I don't think I am ready at all as I don't really know what to do yet, other than explore something and see if/what bugs crop up and when... Argh!

At the bottom of the email, click 'Review this test cycle' - it might be your Sandbox test to get you started. You can always decline once you've clicked through to have a look.

Re: uTest

how do they mark the test- is it the same you start with a set amount of points and get marked down for any mistakes? I am currently on 2 points- guess that wont be enough? The leader board is odd too- there a load on 2 point get some are higher than others.

It's definitely paid work! Bit nervous about starting on something paid straightaway; I think I have the gist of what to do from reading articles, but the amount of information on the site is huge!

Re: uTest

Have slipped right down the table. But there seems to be a load of us on the same score so not sure if its accurate. There are at least 10 people above me all on the same score???

My test still not marked. All the bugs have been though.

Re: uTest

I did the project I was sent an invitation for and found four bugs (well, five, but I checked again and the fifth one was a known issue anyway. See what I mean about my concentration? :() Just waiting until it closes for results. Don't have high hopes, TBH.

Re: uTest

If the fifth hasn't changed to Pending or Rejected then you can discard it.
This way you won't get a negative rating for a rejected bug.

Re: uTest

Just had my test case approved. Am I right that the test case approval isn't shown on the leaderboard? I hope they don't keep us waiting too much longer to find out if we're in the top 30%.

Hi,

You are correct, it is not shown on the leaderboard.

Good luck!

Regards,

CAD.

Re: uTest

Thanks. As the leaderboard stands, I'm in the top 30% but of course I have no idea what impact the test case marking has had. If the sandbox is representative of paid tests offered then I think I'd very much enjoy this kind of work.

Re: uTest

I'm not sure you can rely on the Leaderboard anyway. They only added it a couple of months ago and there could be other factors they use to rate testers e.g how well written the bugs are, what information you included etc

I'm ~0.34% away from Silver now with 47 bugs waiting to be rated. Fingers crossed I don't get many rejections!

Yep, that's what I did :) I'm glad you can do that or I would have been in trouble! :(

The test is locked now and I now have a Functional rating of 49.26% ("Rated") - not sure how good that is for my first time with absolutely no experience  Also, I didn't join in until quite late in the test - guessing that the sooner you join, the better it is because you can submit more bugs that others haven't spotted yet! Must learn to get in quick!

Loads of luck to all other testers!

I keep refreshing everything to try & work out how I've done. It looks like lots signed up but didn't submit bugs or do the test case - I wonder if top 30% includes them or not. Getting very impatient now! lol

I keep doing that too! I would have thought the top 30% includes everyone but then the others aren't on the leaderboard. I don't think we'll know until we get email confirmation. I'm very impatient too!
