Hi there, I am thinking of signing up with uTest. I only have a Chromebook - is this going to be a problem, as do you need to download/install any applications for screen capture etc?

I needed to download screen recording software. I'm not sure if you can use an extension or something instead. Some projects are mobile testing if you have a phone you're able to use instead.

I think uTest might be getting in on the Appen Voice Recording type work!

Easy PAID Project in the UK! Gather your family!

We are looking for testers located in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales for a paid voice recording opportunity to help improve voice-controlled products.

We need testers of various age ranges (youth, adult, senior) with different voice accent categories mentioned below:
  • British - North
  • British - Midlands
  • British - East Anglia
  • British - South
  • British - West Country
  • Irish
  • Scottish
  • Welsh
Testing will be taking place in-home as well as on-site.

We hope you can join us!

I know it depends on test to test but can anyone give me an idea how much they earn on an average cycle? I understood a previous poster made quite a bit of money but I would like to know how many hours are needed to make a decent income?

Yeah I think they made around $20,000

I guess you just have to be open to doing all the tests that come in and the more you do the better your ranking gets to you get access to higher paying work

Just joined up but it seems quite difficult to me....
Apologies if this is already covered but what software is best to create the screenshots and edit them?

I just used to use the built in screenshot tool for either windows and Mac

I find uTest very annoying

I get a lot of invites but there are either no slots left or I claim a slot and then something else stops me from going further

So far I've done 1x $10 job and still haven't been paid for it

Anybody else have frustrating experience with them?

You get paid twice a month around the 15th and the 31st. They are quite good with that, they usually leave a note if there is a delay due to a bank holiday or whatever.

For the slot claiming, I understand your frustration, I've been there too.

To avoid that, I tried turning on notifications on my phone, and I quickly check the invite to accept and claim a slot as soon as the cycle is on.

Also sometimes, testers drop their slots, so it's good to stick around in chat or to check the slot tab for any update.

Had my first ever utest job rejected because apparently my answers didn't match the survey requirements, whatever that means. Oh well. I'll probably ignore this one for a while!

Hi Moneyshedders

Hopefully I’m posting this in the right place and not breaking any rules!

I’m involved in a project on UTest at the moment and they are giving me the opportunity to refer up to 10 people onto the project.

I will get an initial referral fee and then a completion fee but only as long as you complete the 5 weeks of testing!

Here is the details:

We need to establish a very large team of UK testers that can complete a number of weeks worth of voice data provision for the ********. We are aware that a number of testers already recruited have family members or friends that may be interested in participating...
In this recruitment cycle we are keen on taking advantage of this by using referrals from the existing team. So the test case on the cycle is payment for each referee (limited to 10) + for any referees that complete all 5 weeks requested we will also offer a bonus to you, the referrer will receive payments as detailed in the Special requirements section
Actual utterance collection will start on 24th February so test cases will only be paid once we know that your referral(s) have completed the task
Expected testing schedule:
Week 1 - 24th Feb
Week 2 - 2nd March
Week 3 - 9th March
Week 4 - 16th March
Week 5 - 23rd March

  • DO NOT REFER ANYONE IF THEY DO NOT HAVE A NATIVE UK ACCENT
  • DO NOT REFER ANYONE WHO IS UNDER 18
Please note - The work is done on a laptop not mobile phones/tablets at the moment and you have to be willing to install software onto your laptop.

If your interested then let me know.

If I reach 10 referrals then I have a friend who is also on the project that has been allocated 10 referrals as well so she could pass on your details.
Just thought I would give you a chance to earn some extra ££’s :)
Hi i am interested

@hanna.obrien.79 @Becca @cofito @Mlch21 - I’ve just been given further information on this and referrals would be paid via my account so guessing that you guys wouldn’t be keen on this given you don’t know me from Adam or Eve but I am 100% trustworthy. Anyway if you are still interested drop me a PM so I can get some details from you for the referral but otherwise no offence if you would rather not get involved.

I get loads of offers from UTest but I just don't like their site/setup. They seem to make things so convoluted, as we kind of see here.

I actually have made quite a bit of money off them in the last year but I pick and choose what I do, if it seems really complicated then I stay away.

Fair enough, have to say I usually see paragraphs of instructions with no clearly defined payment outlined. Saw one a while back for the BBC to do with utterances, which might be to do with this.
