So... I got carried away with some great odds and forgot to check the available money, meaning that I have a partially matched bet on Smarkets.

My stake was £9.20 and it has matched £5 of it at odds of 6.0

I've put the figures in to the tricky bet calc and it tells me to place another lay bet for £2.93 at the new odds of 8.6.

How would I cancel the unmatched part of the bet on Smarkets to allow me to place the additional lay bet?

The race isn't until 2pm tomorrow which gives it time to be matched, but I'd like to know what to do just in case it isn't.

First off, PA actually has a FixABet Calculator you can use
https://www.profitaccumulator.co.uk/fixabet-calculator/

Just leave the unmatched part where it is and place the additional bet (so it would end up with 2 bets at smarkets to cover you total lay)

I would put money on the bet matching by the time the races goes off anyway as 2pm is AGES away!

Thanks @Jon, I didn't know PA had their own, I'm assuming I would need to underlay? If I place another lay bet what would happen if the unmatched bit then becomes matched, will I then have layed too much??

heh heh, I had a feeling you might say that ;), is it still likely to get a match as I layed at 6.0 and the odds are now 8.6?

Did you do an Arb if the odds have jumped that much?

Well this is the thing as there is still a chance it could match and then you would end up with a fully matched bet plus your extra one

I would wait until tomorrow lunchtime to see the lay of the land

I don't know what that is, so probably not. :) (I've googled it now, I didn't do that, I just did the usual back/lay)

I'll cross my fingers it gets matched, if not I'll use one of the calculators.

It's where the exchange odds are below the bookie odds

Oh right.

Yes the exchange odds were lower than the bookies odds.

Be careful doing that - bookies don't like people taking arbs

Ok. These occasionally come up on the oddsmatcher, how would the bookie know it's an arb as they'd only see their side of the matched bet?

I feel your pain, thats happened to me a few times. 2 of them matched over time and the other I was lucky as I won that bet in to the exchange!

Hope it all works out for you.

Thanks guys - my bet has just been matched - phew!

I can close all the calculators now and cancel the reminder on my phone, lol.

Note to self: don't get carried away and check availability when selecting a bet.
