We wanted to give an important update about payments, FluidStack and the future.

FluidStack’s aim is to leverage private computing resources so anyone can run jobs affordably in the cloud. We have built and tested a number of product opportunities such as proxies, transcoding, CDN and cloud compute; maintaining so many services has caused us to be stretched when it comes to provider support, meaning issues like streaming blocking and payments are often left under the radar.

Our cloud compute offering has recently seen significant uptake from customers, particularly GPU compute to reduce costs for ML training. As a result, we have decided to focus on this offering so we can provide a higher quality service for both providers and customers.

What does this mean moving forward? Cloud compute customers primarily want access to machines with GPUs running FluidStack on Linux. These machines will earn guaranteed flat monthly payments for both bandwidth and GPU. At the moment, Windows OS restricts GPU virtualisation, meaning our customers cannot use them. We have some demand for CPU tasks to run on Windows, and we will contact select providers individually about this in the coming week. Most providers who are not running FluidStack on Linux will see both usage and payments stop by the end of February. Linux machines will continue to earn both guaranteed bandwidth and GPU payments.

We understand that this will be disappointing to Windows providers who have been receiving payments for proxy and CDN, but we feel that it’s a necessary step to ensure good provider and customer experience. As we grow our offering there will be more opportunities for earnings for a wider variety of hardware types, and we will update the community when these emerge.

If you have a Windows machine with a high-end GPU, you can earn by installing Linux, and then FluidStack (we accept dual-boot machines). Payment rates here.

If you want to install Fluidstack Linux on your Linux machine, just follow the instructions on the Provider Dashboard. Linux machines will be getting both guaranteed bandwidth and GPU payments.

We are looking for high-spec on-prem GPU workstations; if anyone works at an office with one or has connections to offices with one, please get in touch! We are offering up to $100 in referral bounties.

If you want to delete your FS account, go to Account Settings.

Many thanks.

Hi, I started using fluidstack yesterday, and today when I switched on my laptop I am not sure if fluidstack working anymore, because in the dashboard it says that my status is 'last seen 14 hours ago'. Any suggestions?

What platform are you using?

My understanding is that Windows users can no longer use Fluidstack after tonight

Ah this explains a lot, thought it was me being thick:D
I downloaded this last week (great timing as ever!) and it gets to the stage of a pop up box asking for 'cluster token' which apparently is on my dashboard - it isn't,and no reply from them on email. (Windows laptop.)
oh well, note to self, get in earlier next time

As ever, I am late to the party. There are crisps and twiglets all over the floor and a pile of sick in the corner.

So Fluidstack isn't a thing any more for renting out your spare bandwich? It sounded so good! I was excited when I read the article yesterday. Went there to day an see they are only doing CPU renting ( my computer is old ) so that's out of the question for me.
