I have content planned for this month and next month, and many ideas for January and February, but the bit I am not confident on is promoting it. I see some blogger starting new blogs, and getting to thousands of followers/readers within the 6 months, but I don't understand how to do that, or how and where to promote effectively, which has been another factor in me not starting! I'm not too concerned about what other bloggers are doing, as I'm the only one that is me, and I want to use my personal brand as the brand of the blog, and I think being over 30 without children is a niche these days! Lol

Slow and Steady is the answer

Let's take Twitter for example

Join up
Add your existing friends
Tweet DAILY (as in multiple times a day!)
Join in any relevant hashtags and use Twitter Chats for your niche #sockchat etc.
Run a competition on your blog using RaffleCopter 'Follow me on Twitter for the chance to win a £50 Amazon Voucher etc'

As time goes on you will get more and more followers as people RT your work.

Instagram is probably slightly easier as hashtags mean more on that social platform so you can just go and follow a load of people who use the # you are going after and they 'should' come and follow you back. Just remember to keep up with the content on there!

Pinterst - Well it's more of a search engine than a social media platform imo so just use Canva to make a pinnable image in each blog post and share it on there. Also turn on RichPins

Facebook - A lot of people will pay and use ads to get the name of their Page out there. Sadly you've got to 'speculate to accumulate' a fair bit on some of the social media platforms but it can pay off!

In terms of promoting your content, as ever I ALWAYS recommend using SocialOomph which is a total game changer and will save you HOURS each week from having to manually schedule your content and driving yourself crazy doing so!

I've never used Facebook before really, just created a page when I wanted to switch to Instagram Business, and never saw any traffic. I suppose I wasn't promoting myself as I can be very modest, and sometimes very shy. I can see that I will have to push past that, and just get doing the work. I have used Twitter and Instagram before, and have used the free version of Buffer, but will check out Social Oomph and report back on my progress! :) Thanks Jon!

I'm also looking at starting passive income strearms, I've done some research into Property Crowdfunding. Have you heard of it? You can invest your money into properties and you get your bit of rental income and capital gains if you sell. Its a very good way to invest without the time, knowledge and massive capital to actually own a rental property. I am going to start using Uown, the minimum to invest is only £1 I believe, so you don't have to start with a lot.
