Hello all, im new here and this is my first post,

Has anybody heard of phone farming? if so, is it worth doing?

Basically from what i understand of it, you get as many old android phones you can get your hands on and run apps on them where you get paid to watch videos, i have seen some reports of people earning good money running apps where the videos are passive, requiring no attention so you can in theory earn money while you sleep? i believe the payouts are rather low but with enough devices running these apps could one make this a worthwhile mission?

Thanks in advance for any comments

Yep, I've heard of it. It can make money, if you have a lot of phones, which is going to cost money to start with, as they will have to be up to the minimum specs needed to run the apps. Then there is factoring in the cost of your broadband. Streaming 24/7 to a lot of phones is going to use a lot of data. Even if your broadband company has unlimited data, you may still fall foul of the 'fair usage' clause and have your speed dropped or stopped.
I think some apps have got wise to people doing this and require you to tap the screen to say that you are still watching every hour or so, so you would have to pick apps that don't do that, otherwise you'll be up every few hours through the night to keep the ads rolling.
There is money to be made, but personally it sounds a bit like too much initial outlay and ongoing work for me, but if you can make it work and earn well from it, I'd love to hear how you get on.

Someone posted about doing this sort of thing in the challenge thread the other day.

I agree that apps will get wise to it though and want some kind of 'human interaction' every hour or so just to check someone is there...
