1. Setup daily, weekly, monthly budgets and make sure you don't go over. If you do, you will need to make sure you cover the loss in the coming days, weeks and months.
2. Don't go into a supermarket to do a shop on an empty stomach.
3. the green site Mantra. "oooh that looks nice...... BUT ......

A.) Do I *REALLY* need it *RIGHT NOW* or can it wait?
B.) Can I afford it?
C.) Will I use it?
D.) Is It worth it?
Yes to All then GO for it. Otherwise, be patient.

4. Use YouTube to learn how to do simple DIY tasks rather calling a plumber to fix a leaky tap or painting or decorating. Or ask your mum and dad hehe
5. Go to different local parks than big Theme Parks for small children. I always hated waiting in the queues in those theme parks. I may still go once in awhile in very large groups of friends circle but not as often as I used to. Also, taking the mick by charging 5£ for parking ontop of the ludricious ticket prices. Obvs only use the Cadburys Share Bag half price tokens / Kellogs or ClubCard where you can. If you must go regularly then there is the loyalty card from Merlin for unlimited visits etc, but it's not for me.
6. Setup push notifications for your credit card spend (if possible). Anytime, me or my partner use our Clubcard Credit Card, I get a notification of how much was spent and where. This is a good reminder anytime anything gets taken out of your account and that it is the EXPECTED amount and also FLAGS up fraudulent activity.....

7 .... in part 2 as I need to go dash out

7. If you are working from home even 1 day a week , as a basic tax payer you can claim back somehing like £62.50 per tax year from the government for filling out a 10min form which changes your tax code.
8. Use an egg timer to make sure you finish your daily shower in 5 mins and not be day dreaming and having a sing song!
9. Use all the loyalty cards for shopping but expecially Lidl and Clubcard which have the best offers
10. Facebook Sell and Swap Groups to pick up free and cheap items in local /walking distance from your home. If you are a seller, no fees, no favouritism to the buyer with ridiculous paypal gurantees, meaning the buyer takes the mick! hence one of the reasons I stopped selling there as it wasn't worth the hassle with the returns. For the buyer, these facebook groups are closed and invite only so you need a member to invite you in and this keep most of the spammers out and a higher , more honest bunch of people (still don't blindly trust anyone, take all necessary precautions, I have been stung one when i did the following......
11. .... As a Buyer on Ebay/GumTree/Facebook, never buy or pick up a complex item or anything late at night or when it is dark so you can't clearly see what it is or whether there is damage or just the electronic device even works. I picked up a Nintendo Wii on Facebook locally but , it was dark and blindly trusted the seller and took home the Wii and all the accessories, The wii was fine but the acessories, as in the controllers and games were in quite a state!! Go on a weekend morning and don't be embarrassed to ask for a demo that the items work as described and be ready to walk away if you are not convinced.
12........ I have some more errands,,,, be back for part 3 ......

13... Haggling for Broadband after the Introductory first year honeymoon period is over. I signed up for Virgin Media 108Mps Download & 10 Mbps Upload speed and the Big TV Bundle with TiVo and Landlie in May 2020 during the height of COVID and super relived to shift away from the awful TALKTALK. They also bundled in a free GOOGLE NEST HUB (such a Smart sic. move by Google). & finally I sealed the deal with a Topcashback (which did come through after 3 months) moneyback of around £146 ish give or take. So it worked in around something like £18/£19 for all of that factored in over 12 months contract. I havent got time for a calcualtor but you have the ball park. However when it came to renewal it would be £62.50 to maintain my same exact package!!!! WOAAAAAHHHHHH no ways. But it gets better, there is no fibre in my yet, they are digging the road as we speak but it will be another 3 - 12 months ish ish. So basically, Virgin has a monopoly on fast internet in my area for a short time. So either i can get up to 350 Mbps or get stuffed with 8 Mpbs :(. However, I dug my heels and said I wanted the line disconnected. Rententions dropped it down to £27. I said NO. Got a call back a wekk later from another Virgin guy. After a long chat Broadband only down to £26 but he could bump me to 200 Mbps down and 20 Mbps UP. Again, No thanks. Too expensive, dont need it that fast, i'd be happy with 50 Mpbs tbh. Finally, another week passes, Virgin, sure enough call again. Again, I said, you must go lower as I have Vodafone here on the the green site website saying its £18 after some cashback/ Amazon vouchers. Finally, he offered me £22 deal for 108 Mbps broadband only, no line rental, no TV. Sealed the deal. I will certainly have more options after 18 months with a plethora of fibre options in my area, so I have no intention of paying £22, they gorra go even lower or ill just get vodafone or whatever fibre on offer cashback and show ZERO loyalty.

14. I had been loyal to car insurance provider for 10 years and this year i switched and saved £350. This time the policy was in my name and I had zero no years claim bonus. The previous insurer the policy holder had had 10 years no claims and we shared the car . I decided to buy the car outright and become the policy holder. The incumbent increased the price to £850 ( from £650) as I needed to use the car for work (not trade) and commuting and it was only social and pleasure before. So I used Confused.com and made a huge saving and there was a £20 rewards worth of free car washes or Papa Johns Pizza to sweet the deal. The Confused.com rewards did not factor into my decision but the kids are really enjoying a free car wash every month for the next 12, so it's brilliant. Gives them something free to look forward to every month as well ahahha.

15. Always switch your dual fuel gas and electric every year using an energy club or auction. The green site BIG FIX is great, but need to watch out for those exit fees if you are usually under 46 to 59 days. Also, I am renting and got into a bit of pickle as I chose a smart meter tarriff from eON which was the cheapest last year. However, my landlord said there was no way he was gonna have it installed. Luckily, luckily, due to coronovirus lockdown #2, i kept stalling the engineer, well not answring the mobile or texts or emails. Then did a fist bump once i reached the magic 46 days or whatever before contract ended and switched over to Shell i think on a 1 YR Fix.

16. If you already using Smart Tech. ie. Smart Home like Google Mini, or Philips Hue Hub or even if you don't you can get a range of SMART PLUGS. Some work over simple WIFI, others work over ZigBee (ooooh the ZigBee, inside joke). Anyhows, pros and cons for Zigbee vs WIFI is out of the scope here, but can go OFF TOPIC in another thread.
>>>>> Check this guy out, he is funny as hell and really knows his stuff. Literally everything in his house is smart'd up. Mr Paul Hibbert >>>>>

Anyhows, I have mine connected to portable heaters and TVs and Satelite/TiVo Boxes. Sometime, it makes more sense to get a Smart Power Strip that has 4 sockets with 2x USBs and I really recommend the LIDL ones, but they dont always have them in stock and randomly bring them out throughout the year ( you will need a Zigbee Hub for that, you can buy theirs for £20 or any compatible). Basically, getting to the point: you can save money by:

1 - ooh schedule all the TV , satelite boxes to TURN OFF completely at a schedule, using google / Alexa (Lidl is not Alexa compatible) or LIDL app.
2 - doing the above will put less stress on the switch button and less repairs required for broken switches as it is all done elctronically
3 - you left the house to go shopping but you cant remember if the portable heater or fan is on or off. Well now you do, and you can turn if off and have peace of mind. priceless

Word of CAUTION. I am not an electrian, very far from it.

- You DO NOT OVERLOAD YOUR SOCKETS,
- DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH about voltages, amps, and what your electrics are like in your house, if necessary, ASK YOUR MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE friends and consult a professional if required.
- SOME cheapo smart plugs ( maybe even expensive ones ) may not be able to handle some equipment and MAY CAUSE A FIRE. THERE HAVE BEEN INCIDENTS. GO AND LOOK ON GOOGLE. IT EVEN HAPPENS ON AMAZON's OWN SMART PLUG RANGE.
I AM A SIMPLE POSTER AND DO NOT FOLLOW MY ADVICE BEFORE DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND WILL NOT BE LIABLE IF YOUR HOUSE BURNS DOWN.
phew.

18. I missed a really, really big one lol. It's something we do, all do at least 3 to 8 times a day. Yep. Eat! No not the other thing.!
So, do you know how to cook? What? You don't? Right. Stop right there. Forget everything else you have read and learn some really basic, quick things that every man, teenager and woman should know. I'm not talking about elaborate meals, forget those expense Hello Fresh things (but if you need motivation, then heck yes that may be very useful). What would you do if:
1. Your mum and dad were not at home to rustle something up?
2. You wife or husband were god forbid in hospital or out of town?
3. You have guests round?
Basically, you are gonna wind up wasting money on takeaways, frozen ready meals, eat crap like crisps , sweets and chocolate and destroy your general health.
I must confess, I have overly relied in the past on mum and now my partner but I can at least do the following:
1. Make an omelette, scrambled eggs, chop up a very wide range of vegetables (and getting quicker at it)
2. Pasta, baked potatoes in microwave.
3. Co worker showed me how to make an omlette in the work microwave and finish with toast. So a toasted omlette, way cool. (No money spent at work on breakfast)
4. Spent an afternoon with mum and how to make lamb mince with a 1 kilo portion straight from the chiller in the local butcher (not frozen, more work) and then make into portion bags and into the freezer. That is over 1 months worth of meals. So spag bowl, meat feast pizza. Awesome.
5. What's my username? Yeah. I'm all over that.
Poor Man's Pizza.
So many ways, so you don't get bored.
- french bread baguette style with beans?
- as above but with pasaata squeeze tube sauce missed with bottled Ragu onion & herb and Mozerella from the chilled section. Absolutely wicked.
Anyhow, you get the drift, I am a nobody in the kitchen , but push come to shove I can handle myself and my wife and kids for a month if needed (god forbid though lol).
Maybe the cooking bits / recipe advise you should look elsewhere and just take the main gist of what I'm saying lol.

19. on the same theme, but it should be a separate point so it is not missed out by the speed readers amongst you, the Freezer is your friend. Use the limited space widely. Some things that we use lots of daily and we don't bother freezing them. Say, tomatoes and mushroom. We go through tons of these. Also be buy on offer or reduced or even better the Wonky ones from Aldi and Morrisons. Unfortunately, this has caught on so they have reduced the quantity, but it's still a bargain. Morrisons have made a strange decision, well in our local at least to only have the big Wonky Peppers in Yellow and like 1 odd green in the sea of yellow, were no thanks, much prefer the wonky Reds and Greens in a slightly reduced quantity in Aldi thanks. Get these peppers, chop 'em up, nicer dicer or what your method of execution, wife like to guillotine their heads ands puts it into curries or whatever, and store in portions in freezer bags. We don't tend to use a lot of peppers so for us this makes sense to freeze. We only chop up white and red onions for the freezer, but before we cut the onions ( and when I say we, I mean me) I put them in the fridge so I don't cry like a teenager after she gets dumped from "the one", when I'm chopping up a dozen onions haha.
What I don't do is stuff the freezer with cheap sliced bread, as it is a waste of space when I can just buy it fresh and finish it within a week barely having it in the fridge if it's not summer.

20. Nicely leads on to The Stock Check.
Regularly, monthly?
- check your fridge
- check your freezer
- check your wardrobes
- deep clean your house.
Use up what you have in food or chuck out gross fungus items, or stuff you will never eat in 6 months.
Wardrobes, understand what you have and keep it tidy to avoid buying stuff you already have!!!
Again, when cleaning your home properly and keeping things arranged systematically and in order will let you spot things you already have and again saving money from duplicate expenditure and wanting to kick yourself. I don't know why OCD has such a bad rep. I mean is having a clean house at 95% of the time something to be ashamed of? I digress, but I do like things a certain way and now let's swiftly move on.....

21. Catch an overly generous promotion. Story behind this one I hope you will enjoy ;)
So, it's around 2006/2007 ish ish and a very advanced student of the dark arts of money saving came up with a cunning plan. Mostly because he just simply a student haha. So he started his first job as a graduate trainee at the software company I also work at. Mark C caught on pretty quick that the KitKash promotion launched by KitKat was quite lucrative. Basically, you get KitKash "currency” by buying packs of KitKat that you can use to enter raffles or I think buy items with directly. This dude was getting TVs, holidays, all sorts of of high ticket items, definitely made more than his money back. That's all cool, but there was a massive bonus in it for all of us co workers. Yes. Absolutely shed loads of KitKats. He would go into all his local supermarkets every morning and evening and clear the shelves of KitKats. He ran out of space to store them at his flat, his neighbours had sacks of them and could not stomach any more. And we had a constant supply for about a month in the office kitchen. There would be at least 10 boxes of KitKats worth sprawled over the kitchen table on any given day. Boy those were the days.

22. Time is literally money. Waste your limited time and breath, then you waste your money. I would budget your time with the same zeal as your budget your expenditure of physical monies, i.e. cash. Keep a diary, spreadsheet and analyze where all your time goes? Are you able to do some streetbees WHILE watching NetFlix?
Maybe get some help with Google analytics and SEO and social media for your blog on the cheap while you concentrate on rich media for your blog which will provide lucrative referral and more than offset your cost of outsourcing tasks you rather not do yourself?

Maybe get some help with Google analytics and SEO and social media for your blog on the cheap while you concentrate on rich media for your blog which will provide lucrative referral and more than offset your cost of outsourcing tasks you rather not do yourself?
23. Hyper miling. Not sure if I spelt that correctly but if you own a car, the this tip is for you. I treat this like a fun little challenge to myself when I drive. The aim of the game is to use your car brakes as less frequently as possible and just drive at a very steady pace allowing the car's momentum to take you forward as much as possible. Think of it, the harder you push the pedal to accelerate or brake rapidly, the more money is going down the drain. Quite a fair bit of money can be saved on petrol and front brake pads replacement!!
Don't forget to drive s fuel efficient car. I have heard that you can get 130 mpg (urban) on hybrids but do your research, and see how long it would take to pay off the hybrid versus fuel savings.

24. Referral links done right. Back in day, 2006, referral links weren't so wide spread and forums were very basic and unmoderated. Back to my ex-colleague Mark C, he got a new fast broadband standard called ADSL 2+ up to 24 Mbps. That was the bees need back then, the absolute fastest imaginable. Put it this way, the office leased line was running at a paltry 2 Mbps!!! Anyhow, the internet provider was Be Now Internet or something. They said for every referral you get a month's free broadband each. However, get 10 people to sign up then, you get broadband for life!!! Mark in a matter of minutes posted his referral code on some random forum and easily got the 10 sign ups. (try that now, and likely your post will be ignored in a flood of other posts or just simply banned). All was well but after 6 months he moved out of his flat, and hence lost his sweet deal as the internet for life was only for his original residence.

25. Stay Away from HotUkdeals.com.
You will save a ton of money.
Seriously, don't sit there and mindlessly browse on there, you will get into debt with things that you wanted to buy that you had no interest with the day before.
There is of course a savvy way to use HotUkdeals. You are already set that you need to buy something very specific, then once you are a member of the site you can set up email alerts. Job done. You will be automatically informed instantly via email and you save a shed load of time
However, if you want a specific type of item like say a washing machine, but not fussed with brand then do a search on the site or again setup an alert to email.

26. Easy quick Money, usually once a month from Topcashback's generous Global bonus scheme.
Seems almost every month, topcashback run a promotion which everyone can join in regardless of who they are. It is either buy anything for 5£ and get 2£ cashback or buy anything for 10£ and get 2£ cashback. There is a trick where you can buy a gift card for that amount and also get instant cashback without almost any waiting time. I.e within an hour or 2. What gives? You buy a gift card from TopGiftCard and choose the retailer. There are the likes of Asda, Sainsbury's and others, so you would easily spend the gift card and now you pocket the cashback bonus amount as well. Kerrrching!! As per usual, setup a HotUkdeals alert and reel in the sucker.

27. Farmfoods. I just love Farmfoods and if you live near one, by golly you should too. I know there are others similar like B&M but the closest one is 5 miles for me and I really didn't rate it that much. Loads of selection but prices were meh for me. Farmfoods. They are fairly small shops with a very limited range, a bit like Iceland but even cheaper for some stuff. They send out emails if you sign up to their newsletter, telling you the weekly offers. Within that email you will find 2£ of 25£ spend and 5£ off 50£ which is quite generous if you find some good items. I usually buy big 18 packs of toilet rolls 3ply for 4 for 12£ and other frozen, Belgian waffles, biscuits, jams, chips, ice-cream and chocolate. They also sell items that are close to their expiry date at ridiculously cheap prices. I have bought boxes of Mint Malteasers (2months before expiry) and all the Toblerone I could get my hands on. Chocolate still tastes great a few months after expiry in my experience any way.
