I have heard of people being given products to test such as Bose headphones and then they complete a review and then they get to keep the product. Does anyone have any experience of this?

I would avoid that one. They just send you lots of emails but you won't get anything from them for free.

Based on my recent experience, I would expect to test things like shower gel, mascara, cider, up to about £5 or £10 a go. Panelbase and Ipsos I-say have product testing sometimes, interspersed between their usual paying surveys.

Hope that helps.

I had a £650 Smeg Dishwasher sent to me in November for a written and video review - what a fabulous thing that is too

I emailed AO.com to apply and they told me what the had available.

Also a £230 watch but that was blog related.

I had a steam generator iron to review and keep from Bzz Agent. It was a few years ago and if I remember rightly I had to pay postage, but for an iron worth over £100, I was cool with that. Especially as my old iron had just broken!

I get a lot of lower end product tests through various surveys, which are always welcome. (Although there's only so much moist toilet tissue that a person can get through! Discovered they're also good for cleaning leather sofas, not that I think it does them much good! lol)

I've had some higher value stuff over the years to review. I had a fancy iron and ironing board from Come Round and an electric tooth brush from Bzzz Agent. I did review a lot of little products at the beginning of this year from Amz Reviews but the rules have changed about posting reviews on Amazon so that's dried up a bit now. One I recently joined is https://www.tomoson.com/ they are American but do have UK stuff available, sometimes they want a video review of the products or a post on Instagram.

I get lots of big items through my blog and smaller items through survey websites. Some surveys have netted me new GHD products and Philips IPL therapy devices, but they are rare and I have been with the companies for years.

I'd be wary of anything huge.

There's The Orchard at Tesco as well, free food products to try a few times a year in exchange for reviews.

I get all my stuff from Amazon Vine - cameras, TVs, small kitchen appliances, mattresses etc down to the small stuff like a packet of maple syrup.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/vine/help

No one knows how you get invited but if you post regular reviews of the items you've bought through them it should really help.
