This is very strange, can you still cash out after this happens? I am wondering if I should just start cashing out every £5 as opposed to £20 to avoid any danger.

Yes my friend was able to cash out the money already in the account but unable to do any other studies. It happened when it went to the new website so I wonder if that has anything to do with the ruthless culling!

oh no. Mine has been strangely quiet for 2 weeks and am worried now that I have been stopped. Again, I put a lot of effort into them, so I don't see why that would be the case...

Phew... they confirmed my account is fine and I saw a new survey this morning. Very relieved!

I think I've fallen at the first hurdle with PA - signed up, tried to do the demo but it was a series of questions about a site I hadn't seen/didn't get access to - I then had to submit the duff/empty form and wasn't able to contact the researcher. Does anyone know where I've gone wrong?!

I've just done my first survey so everything seems OK - thought I had to pass the demo first but seems not!

There is https://www.peopleforresearch.co.uk/opportunities/

Most of the studies involve you having to go and do a one-on-one session, but they do some online research too. It is not academic, but it is more interesting than most survey sites. I have done a few sessions for charities and government departments and they were really interesting.

Thank you for this– will give this a little look today! :)

I cashed out £28.17 from my Prolific Ac account, and today I received only £27.16. Can anyone confirm if they have experienced this? I only ever see good things being said about Prolific, and never once have I seen anything about charges...

I tried to raise a ticket with PA, but it logged me out with an error 500 message, then the second attempt was 'loading' after I pressed submit for almost five minutes before I gave up.

They charge for withdrawals to Paypal.
They offer another payment method, Circle, which is free for withdrawals over £20 I think.

Had several withdrawals via Circle, no issues, you can transfer from Circle to Paypal your bank for free.
I'd never heard of Circle before and have only ever used it with Prolific.

edit oops think I'm going senile.

Prolific payout to Paypal has a fee which Prolific have to pay and are passing the fee on to us - "PayPal cash outs are charged PayPal's 2.9% + 20p fee." Think they do this as they are doing academic surveys rather than commercial. Usually when we get a payout from somewhere to Paypal we pay no fee and the company absorbs the fees as a business cost.

Your fee of £1.01 was 2.9% of 28.17 = 81p (rounded down to nearest penny) plus 20p = £1.01. Ends up being over 3.5%!!

I use Paypal on Prolific as I had issues setting up Circle for some reason and gave up!

I've used Prolific Academic for a while and also think it's a great additional earner. I haven't cashed out yet but that's cause I'm waiting to reach the £20 threshold to avoid the PayPal fees...not too long to go!

It's been one of my favourite survey sites so far.

If anyone would like to sign up through my link, I'd really appreciate that :) ==> https://prolific.ac/rp?ref=MQ3DTKP5

All the best

I found Prolific Academic to be the best too, other sites let me complete a survey for 20 minutes or so then say I wasn't eligible for that survey lol Prolific are fair and pay well.

Is anyone having problems with Prolific over the last week? I have 10 demographic updates showing on the dashboard, but all sections in my profile are 100%. Studies are popping up, with large numbers of places available, but when I click on them, I get an error message saying:

'We are sorry but we could not create your submission at this time. Please try again. If the problem persists then please contact us. If the study is no longer available it could be that you weren't quick enough to get a place.'

Even after refreshing the page, the studies are still sat there, with the same number of places as before, staying there for hours sometimes.

I've had the odd one or two over the last few days that have said that even when there are over 100 places left. It's really quite annoying!

I tagged them in a tweet today asking about the error issues, they're aware and working on it but advised if it persists to send them study IDs of effected studies. Judging by this though, I think things are more or less sorted:

The Oxford packaging project surveys are back on again. Bit boring but they do pay £2 for about 10 mins work
