Well just started another study and was forced to return it as there was a message after start the study to say that it was now full!
Had that happen a couple of times a few spaces left and then suddenly as soon as I start it a message put up by the researcher to say all spaces have been filled.
Anyway reported it as an error to Prolific as they may not be aware that is happening.

oh, charming! Some of them are more like memory checks than attention checks, I've been annoyed more than once at being rejected when I've been paying full attention but couldn't remember some tiny detail from a page 20 questions previously. Maybe it was something similar?

That's why I always C & P the blurb ;)

Exactly what I do. Just in case it is more of a memory test rather than an attention test!

I miss out on so many because of not having a webcam.

Pretty sure you are not missing out... Prolific's big thing is you get paid at least minimum wage, and it's anonymous. I just enjoy them to be fair. Webcam stuff or "let us access your FB or twitter account" are all bollocks, but there are a lot of them on there sadly.

edit: Another thing I learned today, you are not allowed to cash out twice in 24 hours.

There are loads of surveys where this isn't the case. Are people doing them? Should we report them?

EDIT: In fact hardly any of them are. Have prolific actually said they should be @AlexHove ?

What a lovely response:

That's inappropriate. As a researcher (not one who utilises PA!) I'd be appalled at myself, as would my seniors, for handling a participant like that - whether we felt they were in the right or not. We need participants, and yes we need them to be honest and attentive but we have a duty to make their experience as positive as possible in a given context too.

Well I don't like making a fuss, and I actually agree with her point. It was just the manner of delivery really :)

Oh yes - I see what she is saying and I don't necessarily disagree either, it's the delivery of the point I was commenting on. It's just a shame really. I suppose online participants are more 'disposable' but still. My poor participants are usually in for hours, for no more reward than interest and sciences sake ha so I def have to be nice :p

Most of the ones I do are, and I would say 90% of the ones from the UK are, the problem is the ones from Asia, Canada and other parts of Europe, and the Chinese student ones where it's just students trying to get their dissertations done for free, asking how long a pond full of lilies takes to fill if the lilies double in surface every day, how much more is the bat from the ball blah blah...

I tend to find most of mine come closer to between £10-15 per hour, even if they are rated lower, because 40 minutes usually takes me about 30 etc, as I'm normally doing other stuff, and just let it wait.

Yeah, did have a point, but was a bit rude about it. Like one of the other posters said, screenshot the text it you can. I usually keep a few grabs on one of my other monitors to refer back to with stuff that has very involved scenarios, because I've been caught before. It's like revision guides. :D

Doesn't look like Prolific will be going anywhere soon as they've just secured $1.2million in seed money

also appears they are going to be going after the 'microtask' type sites as well

Theyre appearing really frequently. I've got my desktop logged on and also my phone so i can check on my phone if I'm out of sight of desktop (then risk breaking limbs dashing back to desktop)
