Just filling in an application form. I have to give reasons for leaving my previous jobs. one place I left because I found it a horrible place to work, The boss smokes yucky cigars in his office all day and you weren't allowed to talk about ANYTHING other than work. I can't really say I left because I hated it (I stuck it out for a year as they were paying for a college course) I can't say I moved to progress as I went from Part Qualified Account to Administrator.

Not really sure what to put, any ideas?

You never want to sound negative. I quit my last job without anything to go to because of bullying, depression and them with-holding my commission. I later took them to tribunal. Yet I made it about the unstable work environment - the job provided NHS equipment and I'd been there 4 years, so it was fair to say "to look for a more stable working environment". You could use anything - a preferable location, preferable working hours, etc

I agree - to say you were looking for a better work environment would be a good way to answer that question

I left my last job because I couldn't take the stress anymore and it wasn't a nice place to be. When I went for the interview for the job that I have now, they asked me why I left. I told them that I wanted to build on the skills that I already had but didn't have the opportunity to do that in my last job. I wouldn't say that it was a lie but I didn't want to bad mouth my last employer. I think that is a real no,no.

I have quit 2 or 3 different jobs all for the same reason. Someone in a position of power talking to staff like they are worthless. And no one complains because this person has been at the company for years, or they're either related or married into the company.

The only thing you can do is walk away, or put up with it. Or you could try complaining but most likely YOU will be considered the 'problem'.

That's my experience anyway. There's always someone who everyone loathes but you just HAVE to put up with them.
