Anyone had any experience doing this?

I used ParkatmyHouse (https://www.parkatmyhouse.com/) a few years ago and rented out unused garage space for about a year earning £40 a month.

I have mates at work who live in high rise flats in Leeds which don't drive but they get a parking space. They have rented these out via work or advertising them on Gumtree and charged a lot more than me (£70-£100 a month).

Seems like quite a good way to earn an additional income if you have the facility spare.

Just think of the money you could make Jon, if you had a parking space in a sought after location in London. You could be talking about £3k+ pa easy :)

yeah agree with you there.

I used to work for a law firm that had offices in London and everytime we drove down to work on IT stuff and had to stay the night they hired out a parking space which cost god knows how much in the Harrow area.

I had never thought of renting out an unused parking space as a way of earning some extra cash. If you were not using it yourself, it sounds like a great idea. Would you have to draw up an agreement of some kind, agreeing to the arrangement for a set length of time, say 6 months, with the option to renew. Just in case at some point you needed to use it yourself again, and what would be a fair amount of money to charge?

yeah that's pretty much how it worked

You set the terms

Customers find you on the site who agree to those terms and you go ahead with it

If you live near a football ground, they sell well for matchday parking.

When I lived in front of Headingley Stadium in Leeds I used to do a BBQ and sell burgers and hotdogs to the passing guys and gals going to the england cricket for £2 each.

This was back in 2004 so I always chasing the Yankee dollar it seems, even back then
