When the chazza shops re open there should be lots of stock to choose from with people having clear outs during lockdown. I sell ladies clothing. Buy at boot sales and the cheap charity shops (shops such as BHF are too expensive for reselling). Now is the time to look out for coats and jackets as they will more than likely be on the clearance rails. Barnardo have clearance stores - I have two near me. One is a 99p shop the other 1. 99. I've had lots of branded items from them. Barnardo website has a search function to see which shops are in your area.
Also, make sure you are checking what is actually selling rather than what is listed. A common phrase when buying an item from a boot sale is the seller saying *they're on ebay for £30 *.. That may be the case but it doesn't follow that they will sell. The same item could've been on for months at that price.
To check the sale price, type in the item you want to check. At the foot of the filters for colour, size etc check the box which says 'sold' and 'completed'. Then you will get a clearer picture of what prices are achieved

I'm sure I read that Charity shops are reopening middle of June with other non-essential shops!

Should be good for resellers!

A great thread for me to throw this blog post on.

:D

Good luck with your reselling. There was a guy on here @Andrew who got into reselling (especially with stock from charity shops). He out grew his storage a few times and I hope he managed to make a good go of it.

Not sure how the down-turn has affected things.

Thanks,

The Reverend

Hi Homie
I'm the one that does the tools and other bits. I closed down for a bit due to the crisis, but am now restarting. There are so many things you can sell on ebay (for the begginers out there). Just before lockdown I was in a shop that sells 2nd hand furniture and they had a nest of 3 Melamine type coffee tables for £4.99. Could not resist these and feeling generous I gave them a fiver and said keep the change! They were 50's/60's with the screw-in legs. Anyway, the tops were a bit naff and they would have been a bit awkward to send so. unscrewed the legs and took off the leg brackets. I sold one set of legs for £19 and another for £10. Then lockdown came and I have another set of legs and the brackets to sell, I expect about £15-20 for the legs and about £12 for the brackets. As I said many times in the past, knowledge is king.

Hi all, I made an eBay account last night and I was trying to research things that I could buy and sell to make a profit but it seems harder than it looks. Do you have any tips for me on where to start? When the shops are back open I'm going to go to charity shops and carboot sales and try and find some good deals but other than that I'm a bit stuck. I was looking at things I could buy and get cash back on too and then try and sell for a profit, does anybody do that?
I use car boot sales and charity shops in the main, but there are lots of opportunities in the selling game. Had some tremendous finds at jumble sales such as, book on faires 10p, sold for £80. Garden game 40p. sold for £62 etc. Libraries sometimes have sales and made a few bob on books from these venues. Garden sales are always worth a look, example, hammer £1 sold £40, carved tree trunk of a clown cost £5, but sold for £80. Don't be misled that selling on ebay is not profitable. You will find on this site that they give an example of buying a dress for £10 and selling it for £20 and then ebay take their cut, and Paypal, and the taxman. My reply to this is that the whatever business you run the taxman will be there. Ebay presents you with a platform of millions of potential buyers. The biggest mistake with the above argument is you do NOT buy for £10 and sell at £20. You buy for £2 or less and sell at £20. Give it go. When things are more normal you should be able to make an extra £200 a month.

KIndle Direct Publishing (part of Amazon) Lookup low content books on Youtube.

Thanks for this. I've had a quick look. I've set up my account (I think) on KDP. I've been trying to find examples of the covers people are designing?

I don't know if I'm in the right place either? I've clicked on Bookshelf and it's saying Kindle book or paperback? But that looks like it's for actual books. Where do I go to just upload a front cover for a notebook?

Never mind I think I’ve found it.

@Dick Barton do you have to advertise the or do they sell themselves?

As I said, about £30 to £40 a month, on average. I know this is not a lot, but it is passive and once it's done. it's done. I can make much more doing Ebay, but I find doing low content is fun.

So you literally just upload stuff and people buy them? Can I see some of your work please just so I know what kinda thing we’re talking?

I think i spotted a little bit of a gap in my local facebook marketplace...There is someone who sells bulk packs of something they 3d print on ebay - if i buy one of these bulk packs can i sell them individually on facebook marketplace? I think i can, nice thing is they're thin enough to post so I could always do that too :D
