Are people aware of this company? A friend of mine was just talking about them on Facebook. They offer work in transcription, audio and video, and captioning. Weekly payment by PayPal. They have sent me a link for a grammar& transcription test. We'll see how I get on I tend to be a bit slow.

I applied almost a couple of years ago now, got through the first two rounds of tests with no problems but they rejected me after the third. They said they reject most people but I was a bit gutted to be honest as it took quite a bit of time and effort and the money looked ok. Hope you get on better than I did!

I applied a few months ago and got accepted. I did a few jobs and some of the training ones but it was hard work as the transcription was not very clear and I was spending ages doing it for little return, but they are genuine and do pay you weekly and on time.

how little is little return?

Like ballpark figure how much were you earning an hour doing it?

It was something like 32 cents per audio minute but I was still on training so you get short files to transcribe. They say 40 to 65 cents per audio minute is average.

The practicality is that the pay is pretty low - at least till you can make it to rev+ which is basically where you've done a lot of minutes in the last 3 months and have good ratings. Then you get the pick of the jobs, so the plus members snaffle up all the nice files and the potato quality audio is left for the rest of the folk. These can be hard in a lot of cases, but I'd recommend using the preview option and also using time in your first hour (where you can unclaim the job penalty free) to scan parts of the file if possible so that if it becomes hellish you can bail. That being said, that tactic does essentially increase the chance you're not being paid for the time you spend involved in the work (not actively transcribing but assessing a job).

I've done it a bit and consider myself likely to return if other avenues dry up online or I'm curious enough to review the offerings. The best bet - if you enjoy the work at least - is probably to graft a lot for the first couple months, get up to plus then maintain your figures and retain the pick of the bunch.

Oh, btw, for anyone working there - remember your text expanders! They're like autocomplete that you set up for words you're typing often and they will really help up your transcription speed.

Last couple of points - adding an audio booster tends to help. You can get some as chrome extensions, others are stand alone software. The (rev) forum is your friend if stuck - people are kind and will help if they can.

Good luck all x

Amazon just contacted me regarding my seller account... I wasn't aware I still had one as I last used it in 2004!
Can I believe I've actually just bought some proper lights for LEGO animations - a bit of a short sale on Amazon! :D
So Respondent have contacted me to take part in a face to face interview next week.
Excited & should take me over £100 goal for January....
I really should get back into Matched Betting - I'm pretty sure most of what I make goes to Odds Monkey as I don't bother cancelling the subscription - oops!
So as a newbie here I'm still trying to get my head round it all & which is the way to channel my time. I've signed up to Prolific & Resondent thanks to @Jon
I've earned a few 3.00 on Prolific so far & waiting on surveys to come back from Respondent that I've applied for, so fingers crossed.
I have a few items listed on Ebay which I hope I will put to my 1st try at MB, scares me to be honest.
