Ok, so I know people donate their hair and some will raise money alongside but I've never heard of anyone actually selling their hair to make themselves some money.

The woman in the link wants £1000 (starting amount) for 15" of her "virgin" hair. She has 0 bids, surely no-one is going to pay that amount?

She could've done without mentioning the children coughing, sneezing and being sick into her hair, in my opinion! Not the best sales patter ever.

I had heard of people selling their hair but I didn't think it was common in this country. There is a website called hairharvest and the most they seem to pay for long untreated hair in good condition is £200. £1000 does seem too much.

I'm trying to imagine why anyone would want this. Let's face it, you could get a good quality wig for less than half that. If she cuts off 15 inches of her hair and sends it to someone, what the heck is that person going to do with it??

Is there such a thing as a hair fetish? Maybe if there is someone would be interested but surely not at that price. I think the appeal of lovely hair only exists when it is actually on someones head! I can't see why anyone would want to be the 'proud' owner of someone's plait.

Most bought hair comes from Russia and Eastern Europe and is used for human hair extentions.

Blonde commands the highest prices.

It's probably not a great earner for people over here but impoverished families in the Eastern bloc it's a life saver!

Still at 0 bids.
Can't see why anyone would go for it especially at that price.

I wear very expensive virgin Peruvian hair and I can say that for a 100 g bundle of her hair, it would cost around the 200 mark...if that actually! She obviously never did her research. People will buy un-weft hair but not on ebay.

She's now dropped her starting bid to £300...I'm guessing she realised she was being a little too optimistic? I still think she is!

Wow, how depressing! It's like that scene from Les Miserables where she sells her hair, then her teeth, then ends up selling her body because she has nothing else left to sell! I know they still sell hair in the third word so that must be where she got the idea from! It's only sold to be made into wigs though isn't it, I don't think there's a lot else you can do with it? Correct me if I'm wrong!

If she thinks her hair is in 'fantastic condition' she needs to get an eye test... Clearly as she claims to have taken the 'most wonderful man off the market' which just makes me want to vomit tbh.

I'm all for bigging up your husband but no need to sound like a vacuous smug bitch in the process.

I have to cut mine every month. I normally go for a grade 2 or 3 short back and sides with a 'trim off the top'. Failure to do this results in my hair resembling what can only be described as an 80's microphone!

Testing one, two .... one, two! :)

I think it's very strange to sell your hair on eBay, or at all. I do think she has nice hair tho. But I won't be bidding.

When I lived in Spain a friend of ours had a condition where her hair thinned and dropped out (not alopecia, but similar I suppose) and another friend of ours, a Romanian girl, had her hair cut off and donated it to her.
