It's a good job I'm keeping a logbook of all this!

I've been such a positive person this week, I can't thank this place enough, where's the 'hugs' smiley? :)

To be honest, thought this was a scam but had a dig about and it all seems legit although as soon as I mention this type of role to anyone I sense the rolls of eyes and scepticism. My partner said if you have to buy your own PC pay for your own CRB and also have a phone installed at your expense ...he said that raises warning flags to him ? I do have a spare room and also have the flexibility needed for some awkward shifts so to me it seems great ? It mentions a 4 hour approx assessment has anyone been through this? What should I expect ? All seems a bit daunting but exciting too

it's not a scam

if your other half doesn't mix in the 'working from home' world I can understand how he thinks that but trust me, it's not. You work for them, you get paid - job done

I've yet to convince him, but yes I don't see why it wouldn't work great .. My current employer of course provides me with a desk, chair phone and computer but the off putting bit is I have to fight for a parking space I'm locked into a glass soul-less office block in the middle of a business park with a lovely view of another soul-less office block !! .. How can working from home not appeal to everyone ! :)

Working from home comes with many different expenses no matter what route you take. To work online you will always need a PC/Laptop and internet, I work for AQA so need a PC/Laptop. If I was to become a Childminder then I'd need to pay for my own CRB, buy supplies, attend courses etc.

A few companies like Sensee require a separate line as you will be connected to a dialer etc

Just thought Id pop back in with an update, well I'm through so far. Passed the telephone interview, passed the assessment bit, haven't got a training start date yet and busy getting my setup ready but wanted you all to know the point I was at, will keep you updated as I progress.

I was interested in senses but was put off because they said you had to have a full PC set up and couldn't use laptop. Wasn't prepared to go out and buy a big PC again so didn't pursue it further

I had a look at this a while ago and I believe the criteria was that you had to have a seperate 'office' with a desktop PC hardwired to the internet, with no wifi allowed, so with no spare room and 3 kiddies running about, it just wasn't for me.

[member=1775]kaiserpups[/member] same here! Would have loved to apply if they were a bit more flexible in regards to their computer and office space requirements!

Just thought Id drop in and say Hello & Happy New Year...just a quick update Im still there, yes it's all working out just great for me. Takes a while to get used too, it's just as hard as any other jobs, so if applying don't expect it to be any easier than a bricks & mortar job ..but the benefits of not going out in the wind and rain far outweigh the negatives. I even worked over the xmas period, few hours popping into my "home" office isn't such a sacrifice as physically dragging yourself out the house over the Xmas period. Despite my initial scepticism, I have to say it's not for everyone admittedly but for me ..it suits. :)

sorry saw this message probably too late how did you get on ? I seem to remember my interview being similar to the telephone interview and not too bad and had the test straight afterwards and found out quickly,

Sorry for dragging up this old thread. But anyone have any tips for passing the initial webcam interview?. I have it this week and curious as to what they will ask. Is is like a standard customer service type interview?

From what i've read online it's just a usual Interview style chat but done over webcam. Just show them you can do great when it comes to customer service and I'm sure you will get the job!

Let us know how it goes [member=4169]Buzzybee_77[/member] !!
