I tend to avoid any task that requires

photos inside a cornershop - you'll get rumbled PDQ and asked to leave.
'introduce yourself to the employee' - They don't care. And will view you with suspicion.
Ask lots of detailed questions like "Do you stock brand x vape? Have you got a vape recommendation?" - no-one asks the geezer down the cornershop that.
Yeah. I agree. @mabozza likes doing those types though. Especially ones with tins of peas.

Morning!
So I've never bothered with Shepper before but I've reserved some of the lottery ones for tomorrow. Just a couple of things..
*Will this task be just taking the photos? I can see on the Shepper app it says "all questions will be explained step by step"...
* Would I introduce myself or just go in and start taking the photos and explain what I'm doing if questioned?

Not sure why, but feel a bit nervous

Thankyou!

I did a test run of one of these last week - I think its helpful to introduce yourself as you will need to get close to the counter to take some of the pics. Have a look in the files on the job spec - the LOA is there and also a help guide of exactly what to photograph such as the table insert, stickers on the terimnial etc

Yeah, I've had a look through them. I think it's just because I've never done anything for Shepper before/used the app so just a little unsure. I'm sure I'll be fine. I think it's if I get any awkward staff and they just refuse.

Do a few of the bigger supermarket ones first. Less hassle with staff and customers and plenty of space too so you can do it without feeling under scrutiny.

You could make your own, it would have as much authority as the LOA.

Small shop owners don't care if you've got a letter from the queen, they will not want you doing ANYTHING in their shop and will tell you to leave/chase you out if they even think you are up to something!

Tasks I love

Outdoor photography - take your time and no-one bothers you.
betting shop tasks - they are weird places where EVERYONE is on their phone every 30 seconds.
supermarket tasks - Literally no-one cares!
^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ The most sage advice on task app tasks ever. Fully 100% agree every word.. well said Rev

How's everyone doing with lottery checks? I'm finding the main issue is having to wait until there are no customers at the til to get photos of scratchcard and terminal points.

My phone charge is the biggest issue. The car just isn't charging quickly enough so I've come home for a recharge. Probably my phone, but the app just drains the battery. I've been doing ok besides that, finding it really easy. Only 1 awkward shop owner so far, just more rude than anything else. 17 down.. don't know if I'll get the other 23 finished.. looking unlikely :(

Hi I'm new here and found the site through the blog post about this Shepper campaign.

Just back in the house and have 44 done so far. A few tips for those doing these.
  • Print your LOA out and put it in a see through folder, £1 in Sainsburys.
  • As you walk in hand it to the staff member
  • Have a quick chat to introduce yourself, flip it over and briefly show them what pictures you will be taking from the other sheet provided.
  • By now get underway with the pics as they continue to read it, so far most are happy enough at this stage.
  • If the till area is busy, look for another staff member, maybe stocking shelves and take them through it.
  • If the till area is busy you can do the stand first then come back to the till.
  • With this approach I'm able to get in and out in less than five minutes, I timed one at 4 mins :)
Hope those help.
