So who else is single and ready to mingle on the shed? I'm finally getting back into the dating world but I'm avoiding online dating like the plague as it never goes well for me. I thought a good way to chat to people would insted be to put myself out there in some of the communities I'm in and see where it leads! So here I am :)

Side note :

I'm having to write a fair bit of content at the moment about the perils of online dating. Any Horror stories? Catfishing etc..

I've got the text of an old article I wrote for my former blog that died many years ago which I can email across to you if you like? It has a dating horror story of mine in. If nothing else it's an entertaining read!

That does not sound fun!
It was a flop. She told me at the start that it's not a date and we're just friends. It's wierd that she tells me to stop flirting with her, but then she complains that she misses the times i used to flirt with her...

I hope you've cut this person out of your life - they don't sound good for you in the slightest.

I'm not a 'youngster' and have done dating the old fashioned and scary way.

1, Go out of your way to meet new people.
2, Make new friends.
3, Invest in the friendships
4, turn a friendship into a relationship

As a fully paid up member of the grown-up club I'd say these these things.

a) You are a grown-up. If you don't want to speak to someone you don't have to.
b) It is better to have fewer friends than keep toxic friendships.
c) Don't mess with people's emotions, you'd not want yours messed with.
d) To Thine Own Self Be True.

Honestly, online dating just sounds terrifying in general. It's far to open to expectations being sky high by the point you meet the other person I imagine

Hey when did you join the grown up club? And can me and @Jon join? :) Haha

I agree. I would be far too scared to do anything like that. I prefer the old ways too of joining some local clubs etc and meeting people that way.

Yes, but at least there is no expectation (and therefore less scary romantic type rejection). You are there to do sport, charity work or whatever the club is and meet some people. If you don't like it you don't have to go back. I went to a gymnastics class about 6/7 years ago on my own without knowing anyone and still go now!
