I've become very unfocussed in my money making opportunities over the last year. I think a diary will be a great point of focus for me and a way to set goals, chart my progress and create more opportunities.

I earn money through adsense on my youtube channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/GreatBirthdayIdeas and my website here http://www.great-happy-birthday-ideas.com/

These are my earnings for January 2014
£339.89 Youtube Adsense earnings (621460 video views)
£111.30 Website Adsense earnings (402806 page views click though rate 2.28%)

My target is to top £7200 by the end of the year from the above online activity. This will take me back to where I was before a year or 2 ago, I've been there before, and there's no reason why with a bit of hardwork I can't get there again. In March I'm going to do 2 things

1. Concentrate on keyword research, I've been publishing videos this year without doing my research properly, so from now on I am going to spend more time researching a profitable topic for a video before creating and publishing it

2. Find 1 new way of marketing my videos, I already use twitter, facebook, pinterest and blogger, can anyone thing of any more?

BTW I was most exited to discover today that my Youtube channel had been mentioned in Martin Lewis's (the green site) Weekly email a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately they didn't link to my channel, just mentioned it.

I've uploaded 4 videos to youtube in the last 24 hours, views seem to up a little this week along with earnings according to analytics. I've gone back to basics and researched a heap of birthday keywords and will be building all my videos around the keywords. Other things to do...

1. Find out how to 'pimp my channel'
2. Upload 10 decent videos in next week
3. Still looking for an extra way to promote the videos

What allot you make out of Google Adsense and Youtube!
I must get around to doing some youtube videos with Google Adsense as well. It is definitely worth it.

Thanks guys, no Jon I didn't ask them for an include in the newsletter, it was a complete surprise.
Yesterday I spent a while looking into google+ as an extra way to get more traffic. I'm not sure I really understand it but there seems to have been more sharing and commenting going on so something must be working!
I also added some annotations to some of my top videos with an aim to get more subscribers

Google+ also confuses me as well at the moment - Not quite seen the potential on that one.

How long do you think this YouTube money train can run for with yourself? Are you creating new content constantly in case the day comes where your original videos don't bring in the money they used to

Which keyword tools do you use?

Hi peeps,

Jon, one of my videos that went viral, went unviral at the end of last year which had a big effect on my income downwards. I just keep uploading more content, try to choose good keywords and keep my fingers crossed.

TheRewardGuy, I use brainstormer that is a tool that comes with the SBI package I use.

I've only managed 1 video this week, although it's hit over 3000 views in 3 days, earnings look to be a little up on last month, there's quite alot of activity around google+, I have a feeling this would be a good thing to learn lots more about, it's just finding the time, it's not very user friendly.

I have researched lots more keywords, so I have a big list to go at, I'm just not feeling very motivated right now

I was messing around on fiverr this morning looking at what is on there and seeing where my skills could sit on that site in terms of offering something for $5.

The number of people on there offering content creation in all it's forms is VERY high (not to mention how many seem to come from India) - If you wanted a video making from there for you would you probably have to do your homework in terms of feedback and where they are based.

So what have I managed this week...

1. Completed 1 video uploaded it on the 9th March and it's generated $1.72 so far, the voice I had from a previous video and the photo I purchased from istock for £1 so we've broke even already. Here it is ... http://youtu.be/K-akowdn7jI

2. I ordered the voice overs for 2 others. 1 has cost me $30 but I think it's going to be a good one, I will post a link when it's finished.

3. Been more active on google+ which seems to have generated some activity

4. Joined reddit - not really sure what that is but it allows me to upload links of my videos, so can't do any harm

5. I read up a bit on getting more subscribers and it suggested making more use of annotations. So I put a pop up box on one of my videos asking for the viewer to subscribe on March 7th and its generated 28 more subscribers, that's 1277 per year, wow, I need to put that subscribe button on a lot more videos!

6. and finally I learned that CTRL+Z equals undo, as I wrote the whole of this post and then deleted it by accident, so googled what to do and it said CTRL+Z= Undo!

Jon you are right there is a load of tosh on fiverr, you have to sift through it all to find the gems, and there certainly is some, the rating system helps a lot, plus I think I've developed a bit of a BS sensor, I've been on there a fw years and to begin with did buy some right lemons! Now I tend to work with the same people who I know are good, and I also nearly always pay more than $5 to get good quality work.

List for this week...

Learn more about reditt
Load 2 videos (10 was bit daft)
Put subscriber pop up boxes on top 10 videos

I'll update next week, hope you all have a good one

What is your secret with youtube, as in how do you get that amount of views.

This is one subject I have never managed to crack yet, I have some videos on there but none have ever made 1000 views ?

Any advice you can give me would be most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

I think it's the subject, the videos are used as birthday greetings, so they get shared a lot and posted on facebook. I did have one video that went viral in the early days so that helped a lot.
Other than that just keep loading more content, and use as many avenues as possible to promote, such as pinterest, facebook, twitter, google+ and my own website.
Interacting with other youtubers subscribing to others and posting comments in their videos too,
To begin with I built the channel to promote the website, but now YouTube is the biggest earner.

I was up until 2am last night and spent about $90 on fiverr  However there will be some really good content to upload over the next week or 2.

I've also just started my own Fiverr gig. Having spent ages wondering what I could do, I noticed last night that some-one was charging $5 for commenting on some-one elses channel, they've been a member 2 months and done 59 gigs, that's £180 ;D. Considering my subscriber base I thought that would be an easy thing I could do, and certainly more profitable and entertaining than surveys or adpoints!

I've absolutely no idea how to promote it!

Right so you dont make the videos then, you pay someone on fiverr to do that ?

I guess you just tell him the content you want and just let him go ahead and create it.

That's a good way to do it, for a small outlay of $5 you then own that content and will always remain yours on you tube.

Thanks for sharing that with us :)

Hi,
no I don't make all the videos, some of them I just buy a voice over and then I use crazytalk animator to turn a photo into a video, and some I just purchase the complete video. They can cost anywhere between $5 and $30 depending on the quality and amount of work involved. :)

That crazytalk animator looks like a great tool, and I think priced quite reasonably.

Again thanks for the info its appreciated, and good luck to you :)
