Private Eye has been watching these type of companies for some time and the short answer is, offloading it all onto the taxpayers and local council tax payers.

Nottingham council 'sorry' as Robin Hood Energy collapses

The council leader admits selling the customer base will not make back the millions it invested.

There are others, the names of which escape me at the moment but they all had delusions of being really good at business and thought it was easy money.

Private Eye is essential reading in this house. It's the only way you know how hard we're being shafted (and who's doing it). I have to read it in short bursts though for the sake of my health.

Bulb had me in a variable tarriff that wasn’t actually variable for two years. Not sure how the error arose as I had not switched tariffs at all when i was with them.

It was only when I asked what times my exon 7 clicked in (wanted to run a dehumidifir over night) that they picked up the error. Had a good credit bonus!

Worth a look if you stuck with Bulb….
