I love reading ways to be frugal. I put extra layers on, use leftovers for dinners. Use the water from the dryer to put in my water butt for my flowers. Redecorate yourself. Ive learnt to lay carpet and haggle on price for car parts. I've rang up eater companies and asked to review my bills. Saved 10poubd a month on my internet because i threatened to go elsewhere. Also with my phone contract got an extra gb of internet for same price.

Hi, guys,

I am a terror for picking money up in street, even if it's only a penny, my friends go mad, but I have just counted up my years jar and have got £104.00 whoop whoop!

Also have cashed out another £10 iTunes voucher on quickthoughts and £15 Amazon voucher on valued opinions. As I have said before these are ideal to do while I'm at work.

This is something that I would love to start doing. It's amazing how even change on the street can add up to that. Can I ask how long you were picking up money in the street to reach that?

I think the best way I save my money is by rarely using heating. I live in a high floor flat so I get a fair bit of residual heat, and I only really turn the heating on when I have guests/friends over (because I suppose I can't make them wear slankets....).

Me and my partner both seem to have a knack for spotting money in the street! As well as loose change so far this year we have found a £20 and a £5. My partner then promptly lost a £5 - maybe that was karma, the universe saying now you don't really need that fiver do you, so don't be greedy!!!! :D as I child I once found a bundle of notes which must have added up to at least a hundred or more- but my parents snaffled that!

I have a money box and do this every year, and don't dib in, so I don't know what's in there until the year is up. Happy days when counting. I seem to walk always looking at the floor !! Anyway that is a fifth of one months mortgage payment.

My partner is like that, walks around looking at the floor, he finds all sorts, not just money but bits of jewellery, weekly bus tickets which are still in date, all sorts of things

I bring my own lunches to work by cooking some more the night before. For coffee I buy the 3 in 1 sachets, saves me 28 cents on a cup of coffee. It all ads up.

Shopping in supermarkets from about 3:30pm on Sundays can land you loads of good food for cheap if you scout the reductions teams :p You may have to fight a few old ladies off though..

When you are really strapped for cash but still need to eat, buying bakery goods is a good little trick, either at your local greggs or at the in store bakeries in supermarkets - cheap, filling and sometimes you get really good mark downs too and can buy stuff for 10p :)

I wonder why. Surely they must have stuff left over that has a short used by date.
If they do I wonder what they do do with any leftovers that can't be sold.

They can't give them away to the homeless etc because the second someone gets a wonky tummy through one of the thrown out items they will be all over them

that's why most fast food chains don't give away their leftovers
