There is a good article on the BBC News site today about how Universities are going to work moving forward

In summary, it seems they don't really know. Obviously freshers week is going to be very different but I don't get how they can have students mixing within their house in the 2nd, 3rd year who are all on different courses and then proposing they stay in a sort of bubble for lessons as people are just going to mix all over the place outside of education.

It could be a VERY bad year for private landlords as well who rent out their ridiculous 8-11 bedroom houses to students!

I think virtual lectures + face-to-face study groups are fine and probably the way to go for the first 6 months or so - can't be like that forever though!

Interesting times for schools and universities - I don't envy anyone trying to sort out how on earth this works at the moment.

Spare a thought also for us private one to one tutors who are unlikely to be able to teach 'safely' or effectively face to face until social distancing is stood down.

Would private tutors not be one of the first types of learning that could easily continue once you can be in someone elses house?

Certainly not singing or wind teaching - both very high risk activities. And I can't imagine what the insurance situation would be on teaching piano or strings in someone else's house. I think subject tutors might be okay. I'm hoping to do some face to face theory teaching in the next few weeks, certainly.

Just imagine the global bandwidth increased levels since COVID o_O

Certainly adaptation in every part of life is key. I think education online will be more of the future, however, I'm not sure how you'd get people to complete exams and not cheat? (compliance) :(

My friend's kids have been going to school since May. Literally just two kids in one room getting undivided attention. Albeit, it's a private school.

I'm really worried about the kids that are going to get left behind because they don't have a home environment conducive to learning or being taught online. That's not just equipment and connectivity, but lack of private space to work and be taught.

Most of the kids around my area play out during school hours, I wonder how many school kids are actually getting the school work done?

There are going to be loads of kids that will have fallen behind due to not having proper schooling at home.
