Wonder if it's about to be approved

The first pictures have been released of freezers that will be packed with coronavirus vaccines in the UK, as each of the four nations prepares to start administering the jabs next week.

Which one is Boris Johnson hiding in?

My money's on Friday with an initial ship out Christmas week.
My money is on Thursday lol

That expert today saying that face masks may still be in use until winter 2021 is got to be nuts right? It's going to be an utter race to get the vaccines done as quickly as possible!

I also THINK we don't have to wait for delivery on the oxford one as isn't a certain number of million units of it already in the UK?

GP friends are saying they're seeing hardly any respiratory infections other than Covid, and putting it all down to using masks. Part of me hopes it's a habit we keep in cold and flu season.

I think you're right on that. Will try to find confirmation.

I could certainly relax a lot more if mum had her first jab this side of Christmas. I'm assuming I'll have to wait until the end of January (Group 6), or perhaps a little way into February. My first gig is early April, and I'd like to see a full and safe audience.

There is a significant cost difference between the Oxford vaccine and the Pfizer one. The govt seem to have ordered millions of each of them though to hedge their bets.

With the oxford 'regular fridge temperature' thing being a MAJOR factor once that gets approved i think every council leisure centre and arena in the land will become mass vaccination centres by February as there's no way on earth this rollout can be done at your local GP surgery on this sort of scale!

The Pfizer vaccine can also be stored in the fridge following transport, and the vaccines are being transported in specially designed, temperature controlled containers. So both vaccines could potentially be administered in this way, which should make the rollout faster!

I'm wondering if the two allergic reactions might slow its progress through the regulator by a day or so until they've looked at those figures.

It's nothing to worry about; the figures were about what you'd expect for any vaccine, and both people are absolutely fine now. They're asking you to stick around for a few minutes after your jab to check for adverse anaphylactoid reactions, apparently. They should do this for any jab, but no one ever really bothers.
