Is a 4th shot for a variant that hasnt' been circulating here for over a year not a bit odd?
I think the issue is that Omicron isn’t ‘mild’ at all - it just appears that way because of the level of community antibodies from previous infection and vaccination. If it really does wane that fast, it makes sense to top up - even if the vaccines are designed for ’wild Covid’. They’re still all we Have.

What happened to the vaccine Moderna or Pfizer were making that was specifically meant for Omicron ?

God alone knows - I’ll ask my tame immunologist and report back later when I’ve heard!

Since Omicron wipes everything else due to communicability, it would make sense to base future vaccines on this variant, as future variants are going to develop from Omicron.

Even after three jabs, its not a walk in the park!

I’m absolutely dreading getting it. Visiting mum in hospital every day and looking for her permanent care home, I’m pretty much snogging Omicron on a daily basis. The amount of coughing and hacking from nurses is something to behold. And most masks seem to be under noses, if worn at all.

Wild Covid left me with poor circulation and a damaged pancreas in March 2020, so I doubt it would be a walk in the park.

I hope you feel better soon. Do you have a pulse oximeter?

Yep, we have a pulse ox. Daughter has cystic fibrosis, so its standard issue. Unfortunately, she tested positive yesterday too :(
Called her hospital team and they basically said, oh dear, never mind. If you get very poorly go to A&E at the CF hospital, which is 50 miles away. No support at all, not even a quick nursey phone call each day to check on her.

So because of Covid, the ferry industry has been decimated so P&O fired 800 staff via Zoom this morning!

Seems the above is P&O Ferries not P&O Cruises which is a separate company!

I'm not sure which day's figures I will go into however, I have tested positive today. Think I may have caught it at the football on Saturday.

Just tested positive for my first Covid. Honestly, was beginning to think I was naturally immune to it, having dodged it for 2 years.

Apparently I am not.

Thank you.

Well I'd rather not have it but it has come at a good time in terms of Aintree.

We had our Covid boosters and flu jabs last week. We had a bit of a cough and runny nose, but negative lateral flows. Nurse asked if we had a fever, we said no, so we had our jabs.
Three days later, daughter went into hospital for routine treatment and got tested for Covid - positive. Oops!
Just hope we didn't spread it to anyone at the jabbing centre!

I'm working off the "if it quacks like a duck" principle at the moment. Lateral flows aren't that reliable for Omicron, and the vast majority of variants circulating now are sub-variants of that.

Easier said than done when looking after a 2 year old that quacks like a duck most of the time and likes sneezing at your eyeballs
