I wonder with theatres if they are thinking more in terms of opening to allow actors etc in to rehearse and/or possibly live stream performances. I love watching plays but I can't see myself returning to a theatre for a while.
You could be right. I've been contacted today about a project I probably can't talk about which will involve livestreaming a few musicians from the stage of an empty theatre. Needless to say, I'm absolutely up for this.

I've got work in my diary from mid-November. If the numbers keep (almost inexplicably) going down despite increased easing of the lockdown and social contact, I think that may be okay. Having said that, even though I've had Covid-19 (almost certainly), I'm nervous about singing in close proximity to others.

I've also seen an interesting proposal in The Stage today about ENO's plans for the Autumn season (tl/dr - mini operas, reduced audience, will probably work very well). I'd be happy to go, and will be doing so.

I'm sorry to hear this too. Fingers crossed you can find something quickly. I also hope you got a decent redundancy package.

Sorry about the job. I have been told the same about TAs as there is a lot of catching up to do.

@EdibleDormouse

do you see this 5 point plan as something that could actually work out?

There's a lot of positives in there - several friends are on the Freelance Task Force for performers (I turned it down, as I personally think it's a poisoned chalice of the worst order) and are relatively positive too.

We've got to get back somehow. We need to work, and people need something to take them out of themselves too.

Well the business / staff effects of Coronavirus are REALLY starting to come through now

Looks like Intu could be in MAJOR trouble by this time tomorrow

and I'm hearing that TUI isn't going to start flights to Florida until 1st December which if the other airlines follow suit (which they will) could be real trouble (unless these airlines also fly to other countries which are OK)

I also know of pub chains in the North that had a 'conference call' with LOTS of their pubs and basically have shut the staff out at the end of July saying to re-open their pubs isn't economically viable (ie, they are quite small locations perhaps without any outdoor seating)

Bloody hell :(

I think we'll see an influx of folk here. I've directed a few in this direction for ideas, but get ready to help people out all you can with advice and moral support.

The ironic thing about the Intu thing is all these shopping malls in the 80s/90s were typically independent and then Intu came along with their BIG BAG OF MONEY and bought a load of them up and now it looks like they will be sold off and private firms will buy them again so we are right back to where we started!

I think it’s safe to say reopening schools and shops hasn’t caused any kind of second spike

What do you think about Leicester? Do you think it will end up being a local lockdown?

But schools haven't reopened! My children have not been to their schools since March and from what I can tell, the years that have gone in are on a rota so go in one or two days every other week. The real test is when things get back to something that looks like normal, at the moment a huge number of people are still working from home and the tubes are largely empty. I still haven't been to a single shop that isn't a food shop.

I think it would be good to maybe use Leicester as a test bed for one of these local lockdowns to see if it works
