You honestly must not know if you are coming or going at the moment working in the field you do!I am going to hide under a rock for a bit and just earn as much Money Shed money as possible. I have told my friends I don't want to do anything for my birthday as it is during the huge Thoroughbred sales weeks in Newmarket and I can see with how the sales lot are behaving that we will end up in a local lockdown once they have gone home. These people are coming from all over the country and abroad, all mixing together in the pubs/restaurants in the evenings. Many were in Doncaster the other week. Last weekend the Police had to shut down the sale's lads favourite pub as it was too crowded. I just despair.
The level of ignorance is unreal, I met a young lad on a racing yard that I freelance at just before Lockdown and he had no idea what was going on and that was when everyone was panic buying. Seemingly his friends hadn't a clue too. He's a nice lad and wouldn't do anyone any harm but I was shocked at how he could go about his life, not know what was going on. But maybe that's that generation, they don't listen to the news etc, their friend's don't either.
What's happened to the events in late 2020 that you got booked in?I've decided to spend the next six months making as much money as I can and acquiring as many new (money making) skills as I can. I've got work in my diary for next year and up to mid 2023 in patches, so if I get some new skills together then I'll be sorted for filling in the gaps. Thanks to this site, I've got a (very) small share portfolio and lots of ideas, so I can use the time wisely. Now I just need to keep motivated and telling myself that it will pass.
Gone, all bar one gig. Amateur societies employing professional soloists can't go ahead with concerts now. My diary emptied between 8pm and midnight last night except for the one fully professional gig. And that's likely to go as we'll be rehearsing in a private country house which is nevertheless someone's residence, so will break the Rule of 6.What's happened to the events in late 2020 that you got booked in?
god what a bloody nightmare!!!Gone, all bar one gig. Amateur societies employing professional soloists can't go ahead with concerts now. You're telling me. I'm trying to be philosophical about it and telling myself we locked down the day before my birthday, so start counting down to the *next* birthday and things will be very different again. And hopefully better.god what a bloody nightmare!!!
We've just had it confirmed we've got an exemption. It's taken bloody Dowden until today to clarify it!The rule of 6 is fucking stupid.
Bob and his wife have 3 children, aged 4, 3, and 2 months - so 5 in their house. They can't now invite Bob's mum and dad round as that makes 7 and breaks the rule but if they put the baby out into the street while mum and dad visit, suddenly its safe as now there's only 6 - so thats ok.
Meanwhile Jeff is a student living on his own in his student flat. He can invite 5 people from 5 different families from different areas round to his flat for a dinner party and that's all fine and dandy.
I wish the media would stop saying people don't understand the rules. We do - we're not thick. We just don't understand the logic behind them - thats what makes no sense.
@EdibleDormouse I think you are OK to rehearse together as you will be working, which is exempt from the rule.
That Glasgow university outbreak is pretty brutal
Not quite as it appears. Him from The Other Site has clarified it's going to amount to about 20% of earnings for the self-employed. That's going to go...nowhere.Looks like help for the Self Employed is going to continue
Self-employment scheme extended
The chancellor says he is also extending the scheme for self-employment on "similar terms" to the existing job support scheme.
well I was never going to get any money from the government anyway. same as I didn't with the last 2 payments for SE folk! Not quite as it appears. Him from The Other Site has clarified it's going to amount to about 20% of earnings for the self-employed. That's going to go...nowhere.
TBQH, I would have preferred him to cut the tax liability, or give a year's NI holiday. This is just a raised middle finger to those of us who mostly still can't return to work.well I was never going to get any money from the government anyway. same as I didn't with the last 2 payments for SE folk!
It's friday which means it's 'put more places in local lockdown' day!
