Yeah, they were saying on TV this morning about how for many people this is the first time they have had to be alone / cope on their own etc and how many are actually struggling with it!

The government needs to walk a line which

Keeps the country locked down for too long it destroys the economy and all businesses
keeps everyone safe to stop the spread of the virus
Doesn't last too long or else the knock on effect with be all the mental health care needed AFTER the virus which may well cripple the NHS as well
I am not sure there is a fine line anymore. In London it seems people chose to interpret a balance by doing things exactly the same as before! We don't really want to get to a point like in Spain and Italy where hospitals triage based on age as there are not enough ventilators to go round. I imagine after three weeks, they will enforce another 3-4 weeks then perhaps a slow loosening week by week.

where are you based? I have found that the local ASDA to me release slots at night, I booked collection so still may not be suitable but they may have delivery, or perhaps a neighbor can help? Muscle Food seems to be still delivering and do a range of foods and some of the box delivery food services seem to be still delivering.

No, we can't collect. I've got all of the supermarkets bookmarked, so I'm going through them all several times a day to pick up any available slots. Most places now aren't allowing new customers for home delivery. Neighbours have offered to get us things from the corner shop, which has the bare basics, such as bread and milk. If I can just get through to Sainsburys, they would give us priority, but their phone lines are constantly engaged and when you do get through, you get a message saying that they can't take your call right now and they hang up. They are saying that they are working with the government to identify vulnerable customers, but they can't seem to find us for some reason, even though we are on the governments list.

I'm the carer for my daughter, who is on the government's most vulnerable list. For us, the lock in is at least 12 weeks, not 3, and we can't leave the house at all.
Not for a run, not for food, not for fresh air, not to go to the chemist, not for medical appointments! We aren't even supposed to go into the garden!
We can't get an online shop, because the slots are full, can't get through on the phone to Sainsburys to register that we are vulnerable, so what is in the cupboard is all of the food we have.
We are registered to get food and drug drops from the government. But when will that be? Before or after all of the food and drugs have gone?
If you haven’t already, check out your local Facebook pages (most places have a page for their area I think) to see if anyone has organised anything to help people (if not, don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help on there), and it might be worth contacting local churches that actively help the community. Ours has a shopping team for the vulnerable in the community.

This may be of use to some people.

After I saw the queues round the block on Monday at the local chemist I thought I'd not bother my GP for a prescription so I got some things here instead.

UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available 'within days'

Test to be validated this week, then made available to healthcare workers and general public
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...home-testing-to-be-made-available-within-days
This will make a huge difference especially for the NHS frontline workers who will then only need to self-isolate when necessary. If we can get a test to find out who has already had it, we might be able to loosen lockdown measures for non-high risk groups before Summer!

Absolutely, fingers crossed that this is a game changer!

But even with testing, we still need some sort of lockdown as NHS still can't handle an increase in critically ill patients so hopefully people don't see the test as a reason to reopen pubs and clubs just yet!

Watching the TV programme on at the moment they just said that all the people that have been identified as vulnerable and to stay at home should be able to contact local authorities as they will deliver food.

I also have seen this www.kbk.co.uk
food delivery

Yes, I saw that and was quite surprised, as that information hasn't been passed on directly to the people in need. Daughter has had many official messages, but contacting the local authorities has never been mentioned.
She has registered on the government website as needing help, so hopefully they should give us more information very soon. The powers that be certainly aren't making it easy for the most vulnerable people to get help! I only knew about registering with the government website because another person with C.F. mentioned it.
It just seems daft that the government send you a message saying that you need to be shielded for 12 weeks, but then you have to register with them to get help. They know who these people are for goodness sake, because they sent the text messages!

I have a son with diabetes but not had a letter so not sure if he is on the most vulnerable list or not, but rang a friend of mine who is and has received a letter. I asked if it had information on what to do and where to call if you cannot go out? He did not say that it did!! I would have a thought a letter telling people to stay in would have what to do if you can't get out to get food and essentials. My friend does not cook for himself and eats out every day, he has bought his first-ever microwave a couple of days ago so I am off to try and get him some food tomorrow that he can cook for himself, hoping to try and call his local council in the morning to see if someone can help him.

That will be a steep learning curve for him then :)
No, the letter doesn't say any more than the texts do.
Diabetes alone isn't on the most vulnerable list. My other daughter is type 1 and hasn't had a letter, neither have any type 1 friends and family.

I need to disengage from BBC News 24 I think. If the virus doesn't get me (fingers crossed) I'll end up needing intensive psychiatric therapy. The anxiety of it all now is killing me!

It will be.
Asda opened delivery slots near me overnight so it might be worth checking your supermarket websites at night. Remember to get the order placed and then you have until the night before to add to it. I just placed an order for my friend for Sunday so I can then drive it over to him.
In some ways that is a little reassuring about Diabetes, still a concern but as my wife suffers from bad depression and anxiety this will help to keep her settled.
Hope you are able to get something sorted

Delayed tax payment to jan 2021 and I THINK we can now apply for universal credit as well
Bro, the fucking govt won’t answer my calls. UC put me on hold for almost 50 minutes, at which point, the line disconnected because it was 6 o clock. I might get a lot of hate for saying this but.. not even that pussyhole david was this bad. I don’t fucking pay tax for nothing! Swear down on the queens life, I’d make a better leader cos i have actually been a working class citizen.

I try to limit myself to the morning and around 5pm, as I am the same it makes me all jittery and I still need to go out to get medicine and shopping (although managed to get online delivery), but feel like even going to the supermarket I am not helping anyone and really feel for the supermarket staff who are dealing with people every day all day.

You can go out in your garden. Its a virus, not radioactive fallout. No chatting to your neighbours over fence, but its ok to get fresh air outside. I would make the most of the nice weather while we have it because it will get cold again this weekend.

Has anyone seen this Oxford model that came out a few days ago

Basically it 'claims' that half the population has already had coronavirus from back in January and onwards!!

I've tried not reading up on the virus and what is happening but it is proving very difficult, it really does mess with your head. My mum is stressed out because of it all, she's not well either and I keep telling her to no stress out, with her high blood pressure it's not good. Let's hope this disease is eradicated quickly and people can rebuild and get on with life.
