Online supermarket delivery people have been great here, we had a UBER Eats on Sunday and the delivery driver wearing gloves handed me the order, and last week (not our normal postperson), knocked on the door and asked me if I wanted them to put it down, when I said yes they leant into my house and put in on the floor inside the door !!!! DOH!.

M&S I thought were through Deliveroo

The usual drivers are great, but I get the feeling that the new recruits haven't been trained as well as they should, due to the hurry. This is the first time in the last month that the procedures haven't been followed.
I've just taken a delivery from my usual Hermes lady and she was masked and gloved and stepped back to the kerb, like she should :)

Smaller population

also we arent like italy / Spain / Greece where you have generations of the same family all living on top of each other

It could be the mixture of families living together, but we have a bigger population. Today's figures have reverted to type though.

I reckon today we will see another increase on deaths, topping over 1,000. That peak is now here.

Spain's numbers are dropping again

The number of coronavirus deaths in Spain has risen to 15,238, but there is hope as the rate of new infections appears to be slowing.

According to Thursday's figures, the number of recorded cases rose by 5,756 in the past 24 hours, down from the rise of 6,180 reported on Wednesday.

The figure represents a return to a daily decrease in new cases. New infections had been declining for four consecutive days until the numbers rose again on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday's figures also showed a drop in the number of deaths.

Parliament is debating an extension to Spain's lockdown, but the prime minister has suggested the situation is beginning to be brought under control.

The 765 new hospital deaths announced today by NHS England were patients aged between 24 and 103-years old.

Some 43 of the 765 patients (aged between 33 and 99 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

The total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England now stands at 7,248.

Spain bringing the good news again today!

It has reported another 605 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking its official total to 15,843. But that figure for new deaths is the lowest for 17 days and a further sign that the outbreak is past its peak in Spain. The country's state of alert has been in place since 14 March and the mortality rate peaked in early April.

Spain has seen 157,022 cases, more than Italy, and yet the daily rate of increase in new infections recorded - 4,576 - is also down to 3%. That's the lowest since the outbreak started, the El País newspaper reports.

NHS England has announced 866 further deaths of people who had tested positive for Covid-19.

It brings the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals in England to 8,114.

Of the new deaths announced today, 117 occurred on 9 April, 720 between 1 April and 8 April, and 29 in March.

Why can’t we get the “number of deaths per day” instead of 866 have died, 117 yesterday and 720 1st-8th April and the 29 March

At the 5pm conference I wonder which person is going to blow a gasket first, tip their podium over and just walk off when they get asked “when will we lessen the Lockdown?” When they’ve told us 10000 times it’s after we have been through the peak!

my money is on the science guy with glasses!

As of 9am 11 April, 334,974 tests have concluded, with 18,091 tests on 10 April. 269,598 people have been tested of which 78,991 tested positive. As of 5pm on 10 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 9,875 have sadly died.

18,091 tests on 12,993 people
+5234 new cases
+917 new deaths

These numbers are gonna be really odd over the 4 day bank holiday weekend and then I imagine ramp right up middle of next week as the admin people come back to work

We've just had a phone call to say that Father-in-law has Covid. He's 92 with underlying health issues, so not much hope of recovery :(
Most of the residents in the care home are now infected.

Italy’s coronavirus-related deaths increased by 619 on Saturday, bringing the total toll to 19,468. That death toll is now second to that of the US, which, according to the respected John Hopkins University tally, is the highest in the world.

The number of people who have tested positive has reached 152,271 in Italy, an increase of 4,694, or 3.1% day on day. On a positive note, there were 116 fewer people in intensive care with Covid-19 than the previous day.

In France, meanwhile, the total death toll rose to 13,832, with 353 more deaths in hospitals and 290 in care homes.

But for a third consecutive day, the number of patients in intensive care with Covid-19 dropped, with 121 fewer cases compared to Friday’s figures.

France’s director of health, Jérôme Salomon, described the drop in intensive care numbers – the biggest yet – as a “ray of sunshine”.

France and Italy have much lower numbers than us for deaths each day - are they THAT far ahead of us? I thought it was just a few weeks!

Italy went into lockdown two weeks before we did, so we could find it is the very end of April before we start seeing better figures.
